: TRG 2264Start Date: As soon as possibleAn opportunity for an experienced FMCG/Cold Chain/Supply Chain PRODUCTION ASSISTANT MANAGER is required for permanent employment based in Ladysmith.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Reporting to the Production Manager.Assisting the Production Manager with administrative tasks like production schedules and timesheets.Overseeing quality control throughout the production process.Responsible for the correct operation, upkeep and maintenance of all factory equipment.Responsible for the maintenance and improvement of hygiene standards in the factory.Responsible for identifying improvement gaps and taking corrections and corrective actions.Assisting the production manager in improving the overall productivity of the factory, by ensuring production costs and inventory are managed and reduced/optimised.Ensuring that production is completed before deadlines.Procuring and monitoring the efficiency of production equipment.Updating the Production Manager on the status of projects.Liaising and coordinating production with other departments.Assisting in keeping Production in line with the Health and Safety as well as Food and Safety Policies and Procedures.CORE COMPETENCIES:Ability to confidently and proactively supervise production teams.Exceptional analytical ability toward solving production-related concerns.Knowledge of procuring materials, equipment, and labor needed throughout the production process.Proficiency in food safety, quality control, managing budgets, and production costing.Competence with computer-based administration, record-keeping, and procurement systems.Ability to work independently under the Production Manager, and as part of a production team.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills toward managing human resources and liaising with other departments.Availability of working extended hours to meet deadlines, when necessary.Understanding of the labour laws for the manufacturing industries.Understanding of organized labour and operations of workers unions.EDUCATION, QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:Bachelor's or Associate Degree, with course work in Production Management, Operations Management, or similar.Minimum 3 years experience in a Supervisory role.Minimum 5 years experience working in a Fast-Moving Consumable Goods (Cold storage) manufacturing related industry essential.Driver's licence.Local residency required.APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONSWe will ONLY consider applications from suitably experienced candidates that meet the requirements of this vacancy.
