The Opportunity: Roche Pharma in Johannesburg has an opening for a Product Strategy and Customer Engagement Lead. You as our selected candidate will drive the strategic direction and management of Roche's disease areas and product portfolio, ensuring our market competitiveness. By fostering innovation, collaboration, and operational efficiency, you will contribute to the affiliate's long-term vision and strategic mandates. Leading the Market Enablers and Patient Journey Partners (PJP's), you will demonstrate creative leadership, empowering Roche employees to make impactful decisions and sustainably develop the healthcare ecosystem. Your role encompasses strategic and operational management, financial oversight, stakeholder engagement, governance, and team leadership, developing strategies that champion patient outcomes and commercial success.
Key Challenges: Strategic and Operational ManagementCreate an inclusive, high-performing environment to support decision-making and leadership.Establish and track metrics to assess and adjust portfolio strategy progress.Lead the Commercial Excellence function in support of Product Strategy teams.Engage with senior internal and external stakeholders to position Roche as a trusted partner in healthcare sustainability.Conduct market research, strategic analytics, and business planning to support global product strategies.Facilitate the development and implementation of annual and long-range business plans.Oversee training and development programs to optimize performance across functions.Manage demand planning and develop sales and marketing strategies to achieve business objectives.Financial ManagementDevelop the department budget by identifying activities and costs, preparing the budget and submitting it annually and as required.Manage expenditures by tracking spending against budget allocations, approving expenditures, addressing any budget variances and provide feedback monthly and as required.Stakeholder Engagement, Management & DevelopmentEngage with identified stakeholders to identify trends.Look at and consider business opportunities.These external stakeholders include and are not limited to (this list may grow as the business evolves):Therapeutic area experts in all disease areasFunders / Managed Health OrganisationData platform expertsKey Pharmacy Chains and Wholesalers3rd Party existing and potential newInternal stakeholders:MedicalRegulatoryAccessFinanceGovernanceParticipate in Board and Sub-Committees by preparing reports, presenting reports, answering queries and implementing decisions.Manage the development and implementation of policies and procedures by reviewing policies, identifying policy gaps, drafting policies and managing the implementation of policies.Monitor compliance with policies and procedures, identify areas of non-compliance, address non-compliance and track improvements.Monitor legislative and regulatory changes by reviewing the landscape, identifying changes, analyzing and interpreting the impact of the changes, integrating the changes into the policies and procedures and communicating these changes.Staff Management and LeadershipEnsure team members have the necessary mindsets, knowledge, skills, and capabilities for success; inspire vision and strategy while fostering trust and engagement for triple win outcomes.Coach the team towards high performance by setting ambitious targets, building trustful relationships, encouraging open feedback, supporting development, and addressing performance issues.Track team capacity, define staff requirements, allocate workload, recruit and appoint staff, and promote networked working.Onboard new staff with a comprehensive program; support their development through coaching, mentoring, and regular performance monitoring.A full job description is available upon request.
