Purpose StatementTo manage, steer and implement effective product development and user experience processes, create manage and deliver on the product strategies, product roadmap and backlog. Ensure the profitability and sustainability of the product portfolio.Position DescriptionProduct Portfolio managementDevelop and maintain product roadmaps for assigned product portfolio.Oversee product enhancement projects and new initiatives in line with UX and design thinking principles.Define product business requirements and specifications.Build and manage the product backlog in line with roadmaps and provide clear guidelines to the delivery team.Defining and maintaining the product value proposition.Provide appropriate management reporting.Contribute to the implementation of an effective product library, document storage.Ensure effective operational product support agreements in place with the Senior ICT Operations Manager.Contribute to effective sales, marketing and communication strategies.Product Portfolio profitability and sustainabilityContribute to sustainable pricing solutions.Contribute to the overall strategic planning of assigned product portfolio.Market and Trend AnalysisIdentify correct audience for current and new product initiatives.Identify new opportunities, markets and needs.Manage product stakeholder forums.Identify legislative requirements impacting on products and current markets/clients.Identify industry developments that may impact on current markets and products.Monitor trends in current customer markets.Product ComplianceDevelop, implement and monitor effective compliance processes for identified compliance risks.Develop governance controls to effectively manage risks and potential returnsIdentify and report on potential risks to current products, markets and/or environments.Identify potential competitor markets.Operate within agreed mandates.Maintain practices in line with organisational guidelines, policies, culture and valuesEnsure service practices and standards (SLA's) adhered to.Develop and encourage strong teamwork.Manage areas of critical compliance and actively manage non-conformance.Continually contribute to product knowledge of the team and other functional areas.Actively live the Organization Culture and values.Engages with others in line with organisational guidelines, policies, culture and valuesAlign own behaviour with the organisation culture and values.Share and transfer product, process and systems knowledge to colleagues.Collaborate and work with the Products and Client Services teams to deliver required service levels.Actively participate in the Products and Client Services teams to ensure functional balanced scorecard objectives are achieved.Ensure achievement of own performance objectives.Actively share information with other team members regarding successes, issues, trends and ideas.Actively participate in own professional development and career path.CompetenciesJudgement and Decision-Making: The ability to make firm (and sometimes difficult) decisions fairly and compassionately based on relevant facts, criteria and disciplined, logical thinking.Influencing and Negotiation: The capacity to use verbal and non-verbal skill to influence an audience and gain win-win agreements to proposals, plans and ideas.Teamwork: The capacity to work co-operatively with others to achieve common goals.Customer Service Orientation: The capacity to anticipate, recognize and meet the needs of internal and external clients and customers, however these are defined in the role, taking responsibility for maintaining the highest service standards and developing and sustaining productive client relationships.Building Strategic Partnerships / Networking: The capacity to build relationships that facilitate the accomplishment of business goals.Relationship Building: The capacity to listen effectively and use appropriate interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships based on mutual trust and goodwill.Communication: The capacity to listen attentively, present information in a clear and concise manner and respond appropriately to the verbal and written communications of others.Visibility and Impact (Includes Professional Presentation): The capacity to convey a powerful, professional impression, commanding attention and respect.Technical / Professional Competence: The capacity to perform a professional and/or technical function to the required standards, remain abreast of developments in the specialist field and continuously improve / expand own knowledge and skill.Knowledge and SkillsFormal Education: Business Related Bachelor's Degree; MBA will be an advantage.Technical/Legal Certification: Project Management exposure and or understanding; Thorough Understanding and working knowledge of Agile Product Owner Methodology and Story Mapping; Business Analysis; UX Design tools; Product Design; Presentation Skills; Business Acumen / Product Profitability Management / Pricing; Strong Technical and Business Analysis experience; Billing and User Management systems experience; Advance SQL experience; Experience in Business Process Optimisation; Data Security; Strategic Planning; Interpersonal Skill.General Experience: Minimum 5 Years Agile Product Owner experience preferably in a FinTech or InsureTech environment; Experience in the Financial Services Industry; Knowledge of the Insurance Industry legislation and compliance environment.
