Job Summary
We are looking for a forward thinking, analytical and delivery-focussed product owner to lead two of our four digital product teams responsible for the industry-leading Allan Gray Online platform. The ideal candidate has meaningful experience with secure web or mobile applications, deep systems or business analysis competence, experience managing analysts, and is passionate about digital client experience and technology in general. The role entails working with business stakeholders to shape the product direction and priorities, ownership of the backlog, software delivery and coordination, and supporting the live environment.
Job Responsibilities
Lead two cross-functional products teams (developers, testers, and analysts) together with the technical lead.
Play a general leadership role within the broader IT department.
Manage and mentor the business and support analysts.
Work with business stakeholders to define and maintain the product vision and what is required to achieve the vision.
Understand business priorities and requirements and plan work accordingly.
Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple stakeholders and resolve conflicts.
Challenge stakeholder assumptions and requirements if cost and value are at odds.
Facilitate the design of the solution architecture that best meets the business requirements.
Work with teams to provide credible time and cost estimates.
Manage the product roadmaps and ensure teams are kept informed.
Review and approve analysis specifications and UX/UI designs.
Help the development team to design the appropriate technical implementation.
Drive project delivery and proactively communicate status with stakeholders, providing enough information for informed business decisions.
Work with other Product Owners to coordinate delivery on related work.
Support the documentation and planning of test scenarios, test cases and testing activities necessary to assess the quality and completion of system implementations.
Manage the team and assist in resolving conflicts or making trade-offs.
Work with technical, testing and design leads to ensure a healthy balance between business backlog, technical backlog, QA backlog and design debt backlog.
Support the technical team to ensure the web applications are always available and performant.
Manage and control what is added to the production environment.
Skills/Competencies and Experience Required
Relevant industry experience, financial services preferred.
Significant business or systems analysis experience.
Experience with secure web or mobile applications.
At least 2 years people management experience.
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Methodical approach to work.
Experience leading software development teams and managing complex software projects.
Ability to work across different projects at the same time.
Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Planning, organizational and time management skills.
Experience with stakeholder management.
Experience working with UI and UX designers.
Familiarity with SQL advantageous.
Qualifications
Relevant tertiary qualification, technology or business analyst qualification preferred. Strong academic performance.
