Working with learners, funders, employers, and education providers, they create opportunities for young people to skill, reskill, or upskill, accelerating their career progress.
Their mission is to continuously innovate and provide marginalised youth with pathways to success and life-changing opportunities.
They have recently developed the Experience Lab, an innovative programme designed to bridge the experience gap in South Africa's labour market.
The Experience Lab aims to equip mid- and high-skill learners in the Full Stack Web Developer pathway with real-world experience through: Experience Projects : Real-world projects that provide learners with practical experience.
These experiences are credentialed and added to learners' CVs on the Learner Portal.
Impact Gigs : Short-term, freelance opportunities aligned with learners' career goals, offering both valuable experience and income.
Learners in the Experience Lab also receive holistic support through coaching, mentoring, wellness initiatives, and employability training.
A data platform underpins the programme, efficiently matching learners with full-time opportunities once they have gained sufficient experience.
The Experience Lab's Goals Provide young, marginalised individuals with career-aligned experience.
Reduce youth unemployment by equipping learners with practical skills for long-term employment.
Accelerate earning opportunities for high-potential learners by quickly connecting them with impactful gigs.
Overview of the Role The Impact Gigs Product Manager will oversee the operations, management, and successful delivery of Impact Gigs within the Experience Lab.
This role involves sourcing, categorising, allocating, and reviewing Impact Gigs to ensure alignment with learners' skills and corporate standards.
Additionally, the role entails managing partnerships with corporate stakeholders, overseeing fair compensation for completed work, and ensuring smooth handovers to partners.
Key Responsibilities Sourcing and Pipeline Development Collaborate with the business development team to source a steady pipeline of Impact Gigs in partnership with corporate organisations, NGOs, and community groups.
Ensure a diverse range of gigs are available to suit various skill levels and provide meaningful experiences for learners.
Impact Gig Classification Categorise gigs by complexity and skill requirements, ensuring alignment with pre-defined tiers.
Classify technical gigs, such as code reviews, UX testing, and website updates, for effective learner-gig matching.
Learner Allocation Match learners with gigs based on their skills, experience, and the gig's requirements.
Guide learners in understanding gig expectations and delivering quality outcomes.
Ensuring Meaningful Experiences Curate gigs that provide learners with valuable opportunities to build experience, gain relevant skills, and progress towards their career goals while contributing positively to society.
Performance Review and Quality Control Assess completed gigs to ensure quality standards are met before approving payment.
Provide constructive feedback to learners and facilitate mentoring where necessary.
Compensation and Payment Management Oversee the payment process to ensure learners are fairly compensated for their work.
Maintain efficient and transparent financial practices.
Partner Engagement and Gig Handover Act as the primary contact for corporate and funding partners, managing expectations, reviewing completed work, and ensuring seamless project handovers.
Data Tracking and Reporting Work with the Data and Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) teams to track gig performance, learner outcomes, and overall programme impact.
Generate insights and reports to inform data-driven improvements.
Qualifications and Experience Education : Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Product Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
Additional certifications in project management, digital transformation, or social impact are an advantage.
Experience : At least 5 years' experience in product or project management within tech, digital solutions, or social impact sectors.
Technical Acumen : Strong understanding of technology and digital platforms, with experience in web development, coding, or data analysis.
Familiarity with platforms like Salesforce is desirable.
