We deliver technical services and technology systems to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the De Beers Diamond value chain from exploration to diamond recovery. Activities include marine geophysical survey, sampling, mining, projects, engineering, technology development and maintenance. We provide specialized diamond processing and recovery technology for the De Beers Group Exploration and Mining Operations. We are the industry leader in marine mining practices resulting in the most successful and advanced marine mining equipment and operations globally.
The Company has an excellent record in successful project delivery with over 140 projects delivered in the last 22 years focused on the establishment and development of a fleet of sampling and mining ships and all associated equipment. Based on this successful track record, we have a strategic intention to expand our project offering to De Beers land-based operations.
Job Description
This role reports into the Product and Services Department and is required to execute the activities of the De Beers Technologies Manufacturing function by providing project management skills, purchasing activities through the SAP system, and in conjunction with the buyers, assembly monitoring and execution, control of product quality, cost and product supply lead times.
Your role will be responsible to:
Procure, plan and schedule all manufacturing projects to ensure parts are available on time and prior to the start of assembly work.
Apply project management principles to manage the assembly processes in line with agreed assembly schedules.
Provide advice on improvements to the manufacturing processes.
Manage production costs and product quality.
Communicate on manufacturing progress to various internal stakeholders.
Assist in updating and developing new safe work procedures related to the production environment.
Willing to be trained on crane and forklift operations.
Qualifications
A minimum of a B.Tech Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
Additional requirements:
Minimum 5 years' experience working in a manufacturing environment or any other fast-paced production environment.
Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.
Adaptable and flexible to changes in work priorities.
Role specific knowledge:
Understanding and interpretation of mechanical drawings.
Basic mechanical design skills.
Applied understanding of the application of tools and equipment in the manufacturing process.
Project management skills including people management, scheduling, cost and quality management.
The use of the SAP platform to create purchase requisitions and to book manufactured items to finished goods.
