Product Designer - R&D

The Product Designer position will form part of the Research and Development Department.Description Of The FunctionThe Product Designer position is responsible for creating new mechanical concepts and designs for lighting solutions based upon agreed product requirements and according to agreed price targets acting in a project environment on a multidisciplinary approach.Content of the mission Responsible for creating the mechanical concepts and designs for outdoor lighting solutions.Based upon the product requirement sheet agreed at the start of the project.Moving from pre-studies towards mechanical concepts, in close contact with the electro-mechanical engineer, and optical engineer to collect all input and guide lines towards the robust product designs, even in close contact with Research department to integrate new building blocks.Responsible for the mechanical design of the components, taking into accountFMEA methodology to manage the potential design risks and acting on the risks indicated with detailed action planThe mechanical component designs are underpinned by analytical tolerance report for the critical functional dimensionsFull documentation: the mechanical drawings 3D and 2D in PLM, first set up for PQ sheet (with critical functional dimensions), but to be completed by other disciplines in the organization (visual appearances and sample check via SQE)Documentation 3Ds, PDF files for communication purposes and IP registrationMaterial choices, tolerance analysisProduct cost price effectivenessTechnical interaction with Suppliers to enable manufactural component designs: technical reviews, technology choice (Al die casting, plastic injection, sheet metals).Be actively involved in the parts approval of FOTs to start pre-serie or 0 serie in the industry, to learn from the first runs in the factory and to implement the modifications required coming from parts approvals and assembling process.
