Job Description We require a suitably qualified and experienced individual to assume the role of a Product Accountant within Old Mutual OMiX Finance team. This vacancy is based in the SAT finance team reporting to the Senior Product Accountant and will be responsible for products migrating onto the SAT platforms.
Let's Write Africa's Story Together! OMiX provides product administration and accounting services to the retail businesses in Old Mutual. As a Product Accountant, your functions will include product analyses and reporting, financial analysis, ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and ad-hoc projects. This role is accountable for achieving results through the efforts of others as well as your own effort.
The job will be suitable for a candidate that is comfortable working with large volumes of data where the environment/processes undergo changes as the business evolves.
Financial Control Review of the monthly financials over both (Shareholder & Policyholder) for the assigned asset class. To ensure that all the financial accounting transactions are accurately and timeously reflected in the general ledger. Ensuring that all investment and investment related figures are recorded, valid, accurate and complete in the general ledger. Analyze the movements in investments and investment related figures. Perform an analysis of the Assets Under Management (AUM) and Net Client Cash Flows (NCCF). Monitor & reports on the status of all control accounts within the business unit. Drive action with the responsible parties to clear reconciling items. Implement the necessary processes and controls as a result of changes in the business or changes to administration platforms and accounting systems. Assist in compiling the report and first level investigation on the Asset minus Liabilities surplus for the applicable products. Management and Financial Reporting Manage own reporting requirements on the assigned asset class. Drives & collates monthly submission of reports and commentary within the agreed deadlines. Assist in providing commentary on Investment Contracts and submit this to the review committee monthly. Produces ongoing and ad-hoc reporting based on requirements from business unit, Central Finance and other stakeholders. Risk, Governance & Compliance Maintains a suitable financial control environment. Liaise with auditors & internal governance team for control reviews. Team Effectiveness Balances own priorities with directing and motivating others. Creates a climate for optimal performance. Individually accountable for own time, tasks, and output quality.
