PROCUREMENT OFFICER
Job Summary:
The Purchasing Officer is responsible for procuring materials, equipment, and services required for construction projects while ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to quality standards. This role involves evaluating suppliers, negotiating contracts, and managing purchase orders to support the timely execution of construction projects. The Purchasing Officer collaborates closely with project managers, engineers, and site supervisors to determine procurement needs and maintain inventory levels. The ideal candidate will have strong negotiation skills and a thorough understanding of the construction industry supply chain.
Key Responsibilities:
Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiating terms and prices for construction materials and services.
Prepare and issue purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
Monitor inventory levels and manage the procurement process to ensure timely delivery of materials to construction sites.
Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to assess material requirements and project timelines.
Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, supplier performance, and pricing fluctuations.
Maintain records of purchases, pricing, and supplier agreements for accurate reporting and analysis.
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards in the procurement process.
Address any issues related to supply chain delays, quality concerns, or supplier disputes.
Qualifications:
Degree/Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field.
Professional certification in procurement (e.g., CIPS, CPP) is an advantage.
Knowledge of construction materials and industry standards.
Experience:
3-5 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in the construction or manufacturing sectors.
Proven track record of negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships.
Familiarity with construction project timelines and material requirements.
Strong analytical skills to evaluate supplier performance and pricing strategies.
Proficient in purchasing software and inventory management systems.
