Procurement Officer

The Procurement Officer will be responsible for specialized and general material procurement, procurement planning, inventory management, outsourcing of manufacturing services, and supplier management. A key performance-indicator is the continuous availability of materials against planned production activities. Key tasks and outcomes include: Primary : Supplier Management: Identify suppliers based on supply ability, reliability, quality, and other applicable criteria Establish clear commercial and contractual terms with suppliers, including preferential supply, discounted pricing, payment terms, stockholding, etc. Evaluate suppliers on an on-going basis Develop and maintain key supplier relationships to instill a partnership approach Identify potential suppliers to be develop for specific new key materials of services. Collaborate with product designers in this regard Monitor suppliers to identify risks that can affect the Company, and communicate this to the management team. Assist in developing strategies to handle risks Purchasing and Inventory Management: Participate in the integrated production planning process to determine purchasing needs and provide planning lead times Monitor in house inventory and take pro-active steps to (1) replenish consumable type items and (2) to purchase long lead items or strategic items. Obtain quotes, prepare and issue purchase orders. Collate purchasing to achieve a cost-effective balance in the purchasing process, taking account of (1) different manufacturing jobs in progress or in planning, (2) pro-active needs or opportunities, and (3) preferred suppliers with expanded inventory variety. Monitor and control delivery progress on orders, focusing on on-time delivery versus planning Communicate status on orders and purchasing/delivery risks to the management team Expedite order deliveries as required. Handle supplier non-conformances as needed Identify and monitor cases where quoted prices vary from the actual price Enter and maintain material item data on the Pastel Manufacturing system (Codes, Descriptions, and other metadata) Cost Control: Develop and implement strategies for cost and value improvement Conduct cost analysis on significant material and service purchases to identify trends and opportunities. Monitor and report key purchasing metrics Compliance and Quality Control: Comply with the Companys policies and procedures, code of conduct/ethics, and applicable laws and regulations. Support the incoming inspection function to ensure incoming materials meet the required specifications and standards. Engage with suppliers on corrective action Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other divisions including production, finance, product development and logistics to align procurement activities with business planning Participate in the integrated forecasting and demand planning process Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all procurement activities, including purchase orders, supplier contracts, and inventory reports Maintain daily records on active order status and progress Prepare regular reports on procurement performance, cost savings, and supplier performance Secondary / Additional duties : Position requires independent analyses, communication and problem solving. Work is performed with little supervision and requires initiative and judgement Other duties as required or allocated. Requirements include: Drivers License with own/ reliable transport Working onsite in an office environment A suitable tertiary qualification in technical/engineering or commerce fields A further qualification in purchasing or supply chain management is desirable 5 years of experience in technical procurement, preferably in an engineering or manufacturing environment Proficiency in Pastel and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) Supply Chain Management: understanding of procurement best practices, market trends, and overall supply chain management Compliance and Quality Control: Awareness of laws, regulations, and company policies related to procurement Electronics Industry Knowledge (beneficial): Familiarity with electronic components and production processes is advantageous
