Our client is looking for a Procurement Manager (Commodities) to join their team in the Northern Cape (remotely). Experience within Animal Feed industry will be beneficial. KEY PERFORMANCE AREASIn co-operation with management and the sales team, execute and manage the procurement strategyProcure product according to pre-season planningEnsure volume requirements are met throughout the seasonLiaise with sales team and suppliers to secure availability according to planned sales volumesCanvass new suppliers and new products that will suit our sales offeringPrice negotiationBuild and maintain relationships with growers successfullyManage the process flow between growers and or suppliers and the Commercial TeamEnsure timely and effective communication between procurement team and sales teamProduct co-ordination from farm to loading pointsEnsure all feed is loaded and delivered as plannedContinuously acquire information on the availability of product, changes in supply and trends within the area in relation to quality, timing, volume, and weatherEnsure sufficient product is acquired according to sales ordersTimely communication if product is not available or according to specificationEnsure all administration related to suppliers and product is accurately and timeously completed, including but not limited to onboarding of farmers, stock file intakes, certifications, loadout instructions, dispatch notes, complete purchase prices on the financial systemQuality assurance on farms and at loading pointsTesting and sampling of product available to load to confirm quality requirementsCommunication of QC reports to sales team and suppliersManagement of quality standards by instruction and training on farm levelRegular supplier visits REQUIREMENTSAdequate tertiary qualificationExperience in procurement and purchasing of lucerne and animal feed productsExcellent technical knowledge of lucerne and animal feed products, and post-harvest best practicesProven record of successfully building and managing relationships with growersManagement experienceComputer literateUnderstanding of management and reporting systemsAvailable to travel regularlyBased in the Northern Cape (Douglas, Kimberley, Hartswater)Strong communication and relationship building skillsAbility to work independently, as well as in a teamEasily adaptableManagement skillsStrategic approach to procurementProblem solving skillsEffective time management REMUNERATIONMarket related, depending on experience and qualifications
