Job Title: Procurement Clerk (Transport Industry) Contract Type: Permanent Location: Parow (Office-based) Salary : Negotiable based on experience Job Overview: The Procurement Clerk will focus primarily on managing procurement for a large fleet of buses and mini-buses, while also supporting other departments as needed.
This role involves planning and executing purchasing activities to ensure the timely delivery of parts and stock at competitive rates.
The Procurement Clerk will handle administrative duties for the fleet department and liaise with suppliers to optimize performance.
The ideal candidate should have procurement experience, preferably within the transport or logistics industry.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Draft and finalize RFQs and RFPs with internal and external stakeholders.
Manage the tender documentation process, including evaluation and supplier liaison.
Select appropriate suppliers and contractors, promoting good procurement practices, sustainability, ethical standards, and cost-effectiveness.
Draft and monitor Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to evaluate and report supplier performance.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to determine and finalize procurement needs, quality, and delivery requirements.
Place orders promptly and ensure alignment between supply and demand.
Monitor and improve supplier performance continuously.
Track expenses against approved budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Develop and implement sourcing strategies.
Negotiate and manage payment terms.
Review and update inventory.
Skills and Competencies: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly advanced Excel.
Strong financial and commercial awareness.
Analytical and project management skills.
Sound understanding of procurement principles and strategic sourcing.
Excellent teamwork and accountability.
Education and Experience Requirements: Education: Matric with Accounting and/or Mathematics.
Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, or a related field.
Advanced Excel certification or equivalent (advantageous).
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in procurement.
Experience with procurement software and accounting systems is essential.
