Job Description
Lead and facilitate multi-disciplinary workshops with respect to implementation of Process Safety Elements
Develop and implement controls
Monitor workplace compliance against process safety elements
Follow up on all outstanding findings to ensure gaps closure
Conduct process safety incident investigations, root cause analysis and facilitation of learning
Process Safety performance monitoring through leading and lagging indicators
Co-ordinating and facilitating training on aspects related to process safety
Monitor compliance to statutory and other legal requirements (e.g.: MHI, PER)
Support to Projects, Engineering and Process Plants on planned improvement projects
Relevant risk studies to adequately assess process safety risks
Undertake specialist audits or inspections aimed at managing and reducing PS risk
Implement a process of continuous improvement through the identification of PS gaps/weaknesses
Qualifications & Experience
4 year Degree (Chemical Engineering/ BTech or equivalent)
Minimum of 5 Years in a Chemical Operating environment/ PSM
Recognized Qualification in Process Management (Fundamentals of PSM – IChemE)
ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa) registration as appropriate (with required CPD - advantage)
Project or Design experience
Demonstrated Risk Management Knowledge and Skills
Facilitation and training skills
Data management and interpretation
Presentation and technical report writing
CAIA - Responsible Care Process Safety (advantage)
Investigation and Root Cause Analysis facilitation
PSM Systems – Evaluation and integration
Technical safety risk assessments (PHA, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, QRA etc.)
Knowledge on relevant statutory requirements and best practices with reference to API, ASME and SANS
Auditing and inspection skills
