Process Safety Engineer

Job Title: Process Safety Engineer Company: International Chemical Manufacturing Company

Location: Head Office, close to Pietermaritzburg, KZN

Position Purpose: To manage all process engineering, process safety management, and assigned capex projects for the manufacturing facility to ensure statutory, legal, and corporate compliance and to ensure products are manufactured to meet corporate and customer requirements.

Qualifications: BSc Chemical Engineering 5-10 years process safety experience in a high-paced chemical manufacturing industry Experience in batch processing reaction chemistry environment (advantage) Strong understanding of system safety and hazard identification and risk analysis process (HIRA) Advanced knowledge of manufacturing processes, process safety, policies, procedures, OHS Act and other relevant legislation Knowledge of DCS configuration Risk assessment skills, general problem-solving using data analytics and root cause failure analysis techniques Key Duties: Maintain and improve process engineering performance Effective management of capex projects Maintain and improve process safety Develop and drive the implementation of process safety strategies and action plans addressing process safety risk and process safety management system maturity Overall implementation, monitoring, reporting, sustaining and building upon the site's existing process safety management system (practices, metrics) Implement continuous improvement and project management initiatives Maintain and improve SHERQ manufacturing performance (HAZOPs, other PHAs, MOCs) Support group level process safety initiatives
