Hire Resolve is seeking a highly skilled Process Safety Engineer (Chemical) to join our client in the chemical manufacturing industry.
As a Process Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that all processes are designed and operated in a safe manner to protect employees, the environment, and the community.
You'll work collaboratively with engineering teams to identify potential hazards, implement safety management systems, and develop effective risk mitigation strategies.
Your role will involve conducting safety audits, participating in hazard analysis, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices.
You will also be tasked with developing and facilitating safety training programs for staff, and making recommendations for continuous improvement in safety performance.

Responsibilities Conduct process hazard analyses (PHAs) and risk assessments.
Develop and implement process safety management systems and safety protocols.
Monitor regulatory compliance and ensure adherence to safety standards.
Provide safety training and guidance to engineering and operations teams.
Perform safety audits and inspections, and report findings to management.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to improve process safety measures.
Certification in process safety (e.g., CFSP, CSP) is a plus.
Maintaining and improve process engineering performance.
Effective management of capex projects.
Maintaining and improve process safety.
Developing and driving the implementation of process safety strategies and action plans addressing process safety risk and process safety management system maturity; Overall implementation, monitoring, reporting, sustaining and building upon the site's existing process safety management system (practices, metrics) Implementing continuous improvement and project management initiatives.
Maintaining and improve SHERQ manufacturing performance.
(HAZOPs, other PHAs, MOCs); Supporting group level process safety initiatives.
Requirements Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
Minimum 5 to 10 years process safety experience in a high paced chemical manufacturing environment, preferably in a batch processing reaction chemistry environment.
Strong knowledge of process safety management regulations and industry standards.
Experience with hazard analysis techniques (e.g., HAZOP, FMEA).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
In-depth understanding of the entire manufacturing plant layout, operations, and interdependencies.
Proficient in system safety, hazard identification, and risk analysis (HIRA) processes.
Strong skills in risk assessment, data analytics, and root cause failure analysis techniques.
Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes, process safety, relevant policies, procedures, the OHS Act, and other applicable legislation.
Expertise in Distributed Control Systems (DCS) configuration and management.
Advanced understanding of relevant chemistries and chemical manufacturing technologies.
Advanced knowledge of engineering principles and design.
Advanced skills in project management and portfolio management principles, with the ability to lead projects effectively.
Strong leadership and management skills with a proven track record of guiding and developing teams.
