Process Improvement Technician

Location: Johannesburg, Gauteng, ZA, 2170PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The main purpose of this position is to analyse processes, systems and implement effective changes to boost production and reduce waste and cost at GDZAEP. Additionally, support Production on a daily basis to ensure optimal production output.KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES):Analyse departmental needs, identify vulnerabilities, and boost productivity, efficiency, and accuracy to inform business decisions.Support business objectives by creating and maintaining a LEAN environment by increasing productivity, reducing waste & excess usage, and enhancing safety.Draft process ideas to improve production rates and reduce costs.Design, test, and implement processes (new and current).Monitor and report the effectiveness of the improvements.Ensure processes comply with safety, quality standards and set standards (PCI/CQM/ISO etc.).Develop standardized operating procedures and best practices.Provide necessary process documentation and standard operating procedures.Upskill the Production department on new processes and SOPs.Provide technical production support to sales and project teams for customer concerns.Provide fact-driven root cause analysis.Conduct PFMEA.Implement Poke yoke systems within the business.Assist the Quality Manager and Head of Operations in implementing required training for Operators.Participate in Tool Design Reviews and recommend improvements to optimize setup and overall production.Analyse and improve existing processes using production data, design experiments, Six Sigma and other methods to improve manufacturing processes for cost reduction and quality improvement to increase efficiencies.Troubleshoot production processes and material issues. Work with internal and external resources to resolve production issues and implement long-term solutions.Research, develop and implement production process controls, modifications and improvements.Ensure good housekeeping practices are consistently followed.Ensure Health and Safety regulations are adhered to.Able to train technical personnel.Ensure job goals are completed by striving for Quality, Trust and Security at all times.MINIMUM ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or similar qualification.PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:Minimum of 5 years or more professional market-related experience in a similar role.Six Sigma / Lean Manufacturing experience.Ability to understand data.Capable of building systems with MS Office and related tools.This position is 100% office-based.
