Process Control & Development (PC&D) Automation Engineer
Job Description:
We are seeking a Process Control & Development Automation Engineer to join our Process Control & Development department at the Stainless Hot Rolling Mill. The team is responsible for maintaining and improving highly automated slab re-heating and hot rolling Level 2 modelling and some Level 1 control systems, including First Principle feed forward models and feedback control loops, as well as Artificial Intelligence systems such as Fuzzy Logic Expert Systems and Neural Networks.
The ideal PC&D Engineer will have a passion for automating processes and improving process control to tight specifications. They will be responsible for implementing automation upgrades based on best practices in steel heating and rolling theory, conducting software upgrades, and continuously improving systems to enhance process performance.
Responsibilities:

Provide service to the Business Unit to minimize delay times and maximize plant effectiveness.
Identify problem areas and propose solutions to improve performance.
Plan, direct, and co-ordinate hot rolling process improvements.
Investigate and address modelling and control system failures.
Implement solutions for process and product development in collaboration with other departments.

Qualifications:
B Eng./ BSc. (Electrical, Electronic, Metallurgical or Mechanical) or Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
Skills and Experience:

Experience in Software development (C, C++, C#, Visual Basic, Etc.)
Knowledge of Level 2 first principle models for heating and rolling technology.
Creative problem-solving skills and experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
