Principal Software Deployment AdministratorCape Town, South Africa | Posted on 15/10/2024 We are seeking an experienced SCCM Engineer to manage and maintain our Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in software deployment, update services, and patch management within a large-scale enterprise environment. You will be responsible for the architecture, design, implementation, and administration of SCCM and related technologies. Duties and responsibilities: Oversee the SCCM infrastructure, ensuring efficient performance and high availability. Manage the deployment of software applications and updates across the organization. Design and implement a patch management strategy to ensure systems are up-to-date and secure. Monitor and report on patch compliance and remediation efforts. Configure and manage Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) as part of the patch management solution. Troubleshoot WSUS-related issues to ensure seamless updates. Lead the design and architecture of SCCM environments, including server configurations and site structures. Develop documentation for SCCM configurations, processes, and procedures. Apply ITIL best practices in service management to improve IT service delivery. Contribute to incident, problem, and change management processes. Utilize PowerShell and SQL for scripting and automating routine tasks and reporting. Develop and maintain custom scripts to enhance SCCM functionality. Work closely with other IT teams to support deployment and management of endpoints and services. Provide technical support and guidance to junior team members. Requirements Qualifications and experience: National Diploma/Degree in Information Technology or a related field. Relevant technical certification (e.g., MCSE). Minimum of 8 years of experience in SCCM back-end administration. Proven experience in software deployment and update services in a large-scale enterprise environment. Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of SCCM, WSUS, and patch management strategies. Proficient in SQL and PowerShell scripting. Understanding of networking concepts and infrastructure. Certifications and other skills: Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or equivalent certification. Familiarity with ITIL Foundation principles. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in cloud-based management solutions (e.g., Microsoft Intune).
