We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Network Security Engineer to lead and manage network security solutions in a fast-paced telecommunications environment.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in network evaluation, planning, provisioning, and the implementation of robust security protocols to safeguard organizational data.
This role requires someone with strong technical expertise in network security technologies and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities : Perform network evaluation, planning, provisioning, and assurance for MAN, WAN, LAN, and Network Security systems.
Lead the design and implementation of IP subnet masks, dynamic routing systems (especially OSPF), and network security measures.
Oversee the configuration and installation of security protocols, routers, switches, VLANs, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
Implement encryption technologies and security solutions, including VPNs, DNS, and VoIP protocols.
Manage centralized network/security access controllers and apply best practice security methods, including ethical hacking, penetration testing, and vulnerability assessment.
Conduct forensic investigations and incident response for network intrusions and cyber threats.
Evaluate emerging security technologies and ensure compliance with security policies and regulatory standards.
Provide supervision and mentoring to the network security team.
Requirements Qualifications: Degree or Advanced Diploma (NQF7) or relevant industry certification (e.g., Cisco, Huawei, Alcatel, Juniper).
Certification in Palo Alto systems is highly advantageous.
15+ years of experience in network security and telecommunications.
Skills and Experience : In-depth knowledge of network security protocols, firewalls, intrusion detection, encryption, and privileged access management.
Experience in managing large-scale network security environments (1,000+ users).
Proficient in security technologies such as Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) protection, phishing prevention, and enhanced authentication mechanisms.
Hands-on experience with Next Gen Firewall technologies, Unix/Linux OS, and automation scripting for incident management.
Strong understanding of network and web protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, IPSEC, HTTP, HTTPS, etc.).
Experience with change management processes and security evaluations for software, hardware, and network infrastructure.
Must have a valid driver's license and own transport.
Supervisory Experience: Experience leading teams and managing network security projects within a complex environment.
