Hire Resolve is seeking a Principal Engineer for our client, an experienced Civil Engineering Technologist or Civil Engineer, to join the Infrastructure Business Unit. This role involves managing a variety of assignments within the Civil Engineering field. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, controlling, and leading various infrastructure projects, while offering expert recommendations on alternative solutions to engineering challenges.
Responsibilities:
Plan and manage project scope, time, cost, and qualityAdhere to project approval procedures and quality plansCompile accurate project cost estimates and cash flow projectionsInteract with clients to understand and meet project needsAssist in preparing tender evaluation reports and recommending project teamsCompile project team specifications and oversee tenderingLead site investigations and feasibility studiesPrepare and review project feasibility and design reportsAssess sustainability and environmental impactsReview preliminary design plans and calculations for complianceEnsure compliant detailed designs using approved softwareResolve design challenges promptlyAttend design and project coordination meetingsAdminister project tasks and responsibilitiesCompile contract documentation and ensure accurate measurementsPrepare project status reports and funding agency reportsManage client-contractor contractsReview contractor payments and prepare variation ordersLiaise with clients, professionals, contractors, and subcontractorsMonitor contractor work and manage budgets/resourcesEnsure projects comply with legal requirementsMaintain safe working environmentsOversee CAD for engineering drawings and project reportsResolve technical issues and enforce contractual obligationsImplement quality management system (QMS) across projectsRequirements
BSc Eng or BEng or BTech in Civil EngineeringRegistered with ECSA as PrEng / Pr. TechnologistMinimum of 8 years' post-qualification experienceExperience in Civil Engineering projects, with additional expertise in bulk water supply and sewerage disposal being advantageousStrong background in client liaison, understanding client needs, and initiating engineering solutionsGood communication skills - both written and oralOrganized, motivated, and goal-orientedAbility to work independently and as part of both in-person and virtual teamsEfficient under pressureBenefits
