RPO Recruitment is partnering with a leading mining company in Gauteng in the search for a highly skilled and experienced Principal Chemist. Our client is committed to delivering excellence in the mining industry and is looking for a talented individual to join their team.
As the Principal Chemist, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all chemical analysis and testing activities related to mining operations. You will play a key role in ensuring the quality of mining products, identifying and resolving any chemical-related issues, and providing technical guidance to the team.
Responsibilities:
Manage and supervise the chemical analysis and testing laboratoryDevelop and implement standard operating procedures for chemical analysisEnsure compliance with health and safety regulations in the laboratoryOversee the testing and analysis of various mining products, including ores, minerals, and waste materialsInterpret and analyze chemical data to determine product quality and make recommendations for improvementProvide technical support and guidance to the laboratory teamCollaborate with other departments to identify and resolve chemical-related issuesStay updated with industry advancements and best practices to drive continuous improvement in chemical analysis processes
Requirements
Master's degree in chemistry or Analytical ChemistryPHD qualification in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry would be an advantageManagements Development Programme or equivalentMinimum of 10 years of experience in a similar role within the mining industryStrong knowledge of mining processes, including mineral processing and extractionExperience in managing and supervising laboratory operationsExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsKnowledge of health and safety regulations in the laboratoryStrong leadership and communication skillsAbility to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
