Press Shop Supervisor / Setter

JOB SUMMARYWe are looking for a skilled setter who has leadership experience in a press shop environment to operate a variety of machines to perform assigned tasks. A great press shop setter needs to possess manual dexterity and an eye for detail. They must also have knowledge of mathematics and mechanics as well as respect for safety precautions. The goal is to ensure effective production operations and optimize procedures.ResponsibilitiesPrepare and calibrate machinery for producing various press partsOperate machinery and maintain presses to meet product specificationsExamine and interpret drawings for products to be producedReview samples, drawings, or instructions to understand specifications of outputPlan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a jobFollow all safety protocolsEnsure proper maintenance, safety, and functioning of all equipmentSelect appropriate machines and position or load material for a jobDetermine and program size of batches, speed of machine etc.Monitor machine while working to adjust the feed, maintain temperature and identify issuesCheck output to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defectsKeep records of approved and defective units or final productsPerform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damagesQualificationsProven experience as machinist in a press shop environmentExperience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders etc.)Ability to use precision tools (e.g. calipers) to take accurate measurementsKnowledge of the properties of metal and other materialAbility to read drawings, schematics and manualsGood at math with analytical abilitiesPhysical stamina and strength to lift heavy itemsMatric or equivalent; completion of vocational training or an apprenticeship will be an assetShould you be interested in the position please contact:Heidi Kasselman – Financial AdministratorTENTE Castors South Africa (Pty) ******#J-18808-Ljbffr
