The Officer SHE's responsibility is to manage plant safety, health and environment strategies, policies and procedures and ensure compliance with SHE structures, frameworks and legal requirements.
Minimum RequirementsABET post level 4 Literacy and NumeracyMatric / Grade 12B-Tech Degree in Health & Safety or Environmental Management or equivalentValid code 8 driver LicenseEXPERIENCE Experience: 5 to 7 years of proven experience in Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality (SHERQ) Management Systems within a manufacturing and/or mining environment.Standard Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and other relevant SHE standards, including Health & Safety, Environmental, and Rail Safety requirements.Legislative Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of legislation applicable to the PPC operational environment.Auditing Expertise: Strong SHE auditing skills with the ability to identify non-conformances and drive corrective actions.Stakeholder Management: Proficient in managing relationships with internal stakeholders, external regulators, and contractors to ensure seamless SHERQ compliance.Duties and ResponsibilitiesEnsure Compliance: Oversee and maintain Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (SHE) systems in alignment with internal standards and legal requirements.Budget Management: Develop, administer, and control departmental budget to ensure cost efficiency and financial accountability.Audit Management: Coordinate and manage all internal and external audits to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.Contractor and Visitor Integration: Oversee the onboarding and integration of contractors and visitors, ensuring compliance with site SHE protocols.Security Oversight: Manage and oversee all site security activities to protect assets, personnel, and information.Legal Compliance: Arrange and maintain legal compliance processes to ensure adherence to relevant legislation and standards.Reporting: Prepare and ensure the accuracy of GRI reports and monthly SHE performance reports.Incident and Emergency Management: Oversee the management of SHE incidents, emergency response, fire services, and occupational health issues.Occupational Health Clinic: Manage licenses, operations, and service delivery of the Occupational Health Clinic.Rail Safety Compliance: Administer and manage rail safety compliance, including reporting requirements.Induction and Re-Induction: Coordinate induction and re-induction processes for employees and contractors to ensure they are aware of site-specific risks and requirements.Risk Assessments and Investigations: Facilitate and manage risk assessments and incident investigations to prevent recurrence and drive continuous improvement.Communication: Ensure effective communication of SHE management information to all stakeholders, both internal and external.SHE Permits and Liaison: Oversee the management of SHE-related permits and serve as a liaison with regulatory authorities.SHE Sustainability Reporting: Prepare and submit SHE sustainability reports in line with organizational and regulatory expectations.SHE Management Systems: Oversee the management and continuous improvement of SHE Management Systems, including SharePoint integration.Isometrix System Management: Administer and manage the Isometrix system to track and improve SHE performance and compliance.PPC considers Company strategy, Diversity and Inclusion, including Employment Equity and Succession Plan, region and geographical location of the position as well as overall business requirements when recruiting for any position within the company.
