FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES DURBAN The Research Officer supports the Research Office and Executive Dean/Deputy Dean in providing efficient research and postgraduate support systems for both staff and students and ensures all postgraduate processes and systems are aligned to institutional initiatives and imperatives.
Minimum RequirementsM+4 Honours/ B Tech Degree in Office Management or an equivalentThree years proven experience in postgraduate programme administration, financials and report writingExperience in dealing with Post Graduate examination processA Master's Degree would be an advantage.Knowledge And Special RequirementsA commanding knowledge of IT systems and sound knowledge of Microsoft Office SuiteGood written and verbal communication skillsPlanning and organizational skillsUnderstanding of academic administration in the Higher Education environment (Higher Education Act/Statute/Rules SAQA, NQF and HEQSF)The ability to record, document and report on proceedings at various platforms and committee meetingsSummary Of DutiesAlign with institutional postgraduate policies and proceduresFulfil all administrative duties required by the Faculty Research OfficeFulfil administrative tasks related to postgraduate documentation, records and postgraduate examinationFulfil administrative tasks related to research-related funding/ scholarships/ claims and paymentsCapture accurate data on relevant institutional IT systemsProduce timely reports based on dataMaintain timely liaison with departments and students to address research-related queriesOffer administrative support to Faculty research-active staff and studentsMaintain sound relationships with staff, colleagues, postgraduate students (current and prospective), committees, internal, external and international associates (supervisors/ examiners/ guest researchers) and service providers, as well as contribute to team effortCo-ordinate research workshops, meetings, and information sessions on and off campusStatus of Position: Permanent
