Dis-Chem Pharmacies require the services of a reputable Post Basic Qualify Pharmacist Assistant for their Canal Walk store. Your portfolio will cover the provision of pharmaceutical care by taking responsibility for the patient's medicine-related needs, and being accountable for meeting these needs.Minimum Requirements:Grade 12 / MatricBasic Pharmacist Assistance qualificationRegistered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)Working experience on UnisolvComputer literate – MS OfficeSound numerical skillsStrong command of the English language and a second languageWilling and able to work retail hoursAdvantageous:Knowledge of Retail/ FMCG operations3rd Additional LanguageKnowledge of or experience in SAP and E-ScriptingDrug and family planning, and complementary medicineDuties and Responsibilities:Assist with the sale of Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 medicines or scheduled substancesAssist with the compounding, manipulation or preparation of a non-sterile medicine or scheduled substance according to a formula and standard operating procedures approved by the responsible pharmacistAssist with the manufacturing of a non-sterile medicine or scheduled substance according to a formula and standard operating procedures approved by the responsible pharmacistAssist with the re-packaging of medicineAssist with the distribution and control of the stock of Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 medicines or scheduled substancesAssist with the ordering of medicine and scheduled substances up to, and including, Schedule 6 according to an instruction of a person authorised in terms of the Medicines Act to purchase or obtain such medicine or scheduled substanceAssist with the reading and preparation of a prescription; the selection, manipulation or compounding of the medicine; the labelling and supply of the medicine, in an appropriate container following the interpretation and evaluation of the prescription by a pharmacistAccurately interpret scripts and act in a professional and responsible manner and within the legal requirements in accordance with the SAPCCapture script details accurately, and verify patients' details on the systemEnsure accurate picking/packing/labelling and checking of medication and be aware of common dosages as well as important drug interactionsGive accurate instructions to patients regarding the correct use of medicine suppliedKeep abreast of changes in medical aid procedures and requirements for claims and dispensingEnsure all medications are checked for accuracy by and signed by a pharmacistAdvise and assist patients at the dispensary, self-medication and front-shopFollow up with patients regarding script tracking report as requested by the dispensary manager, and follow up on appointmentsExplain medical aid costs to patientsProvide information to individuals in order to promote healthProcess all paperwork necessary for the accurate submission of claims to medical aidsCorrect errors on scripts rejected by medical aidEnsure authorisation of chronic, HIV and AIDS and oncology medicationMaintain customer profiles on the systemMerge profiles locally and UCS should be notified to merge profiles centrallyTake note of any message on the customer profile, and take suitable actionReport on low/out of stock levels, and stock errors to the dispensary managerReceive dispensary stock in accordance with Dis-Chem's SOPs, and merchandise according to FEFOFacilitate bi-annual stock takesExercise stock, cash and asset controlCompetencies:Essential:English and 2nd language – Read, write and speakGood communication skills, listeningCustomer service/focusStrong attention to detailSound numerical skillsProblem-solvingTeam playerTrustworthy and honestTime managementAble to deal with pressureComputer literate – MS OfficeAdvantageous:Knowledge of Retail/ FMCG operations3rd Additional LanguageKnowledge of or experience in Unisolv, SAP and E-ScriptingDrug and family planning, and complementary medicineSpecial conditions of employment:Registered with the South African Pharmacy CouncilWilling and able to work retail hoursControlled room temperature, security, limited space, health and safety, risk stockPhysically fit and able to stand for a long periodValid driver's licenseClear credit and criminal recordsRemuneration and benefits:Market-related salaryMedical aidProvident fundStaff accountONLY SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL BE CONTACTED.
