Our client is looking for an experienced Engineer to join their team in Ngowdana (Mpumalanga).Reporting to the Plant Manager, the candidate will be responsible for monitoring the performance of the plant.Responsibilities: Monitoring the performance of the power plant Evaluate equipment performance vs rated performance levels for every piece of equipment on site Monitoring and reporting of trips Root cause investigation and reporting of all plant trips Continuous improvements of SOP's to mitigate trips Monitoring and reporting of equipment failures Root cause investigation and reporting for all equipment stoppages, blockages and failures Continuous improvement of equipment servicing routines and preventative maintenance to mitigate equipment failures Monitor and report on spares availability and levels Continuous improvement of critical spares holding Analysing the regular downtime events and continuously prioritise what plant improvements should be considered with payback calculations based on cost of standing time.Monitor boiler combustion settings to mitigate carry-over of unburnt fuel into the boiler heat recovery tower and beyond.Monitor the soot blowing of the boiler to ensure optimum cleaning of boiler tubes.Monitor desuperheater control to ensure steam temperature remains within design limitations of all the pressure part components.Monitor steam, water, condensate mass flow to maintain mass balance of the system within design criteria.Requirements: Education Bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering / B.Tech in mechanical engineering Pr.Eng or Pr Technologist (advantageous) Government Certificate of Competence (adventageous) Experience and indstry knowledge Ideally a factory or process environment where there is production pressure that involves mechanical processes and boilers, DCS/PLC controlled processes.Performance data analyses and reporting.Root cause analyses.Good report writing skills.Experience with material handling plant.Experience with boiler and extraction condensing turbine plant.Basic combustion knowledge.Basic electrical knowledge Technical skills Skilled in Excel and BI Skilled in MS Word and PowerPoint Fluent in English Good to excellent verbal and written communication skills in English Detail orientated.Good understanding of thermodynamics and fluid dynamics Good report writing skills Good analytical mind for trouble-shooting and problem solving.Hands-on and practical engineer Good presenting skills in the boardroom Should younot receive a response within 10 working days, please consider your application as unsuccessful
