Plant Engineer

Purpose of the Role: The Plant Engineer will be responsible for the overall technical integrity of the facility, ensuring compliance with legal and safety standards, and leading the implementation of effective maintenance strategies to improve plant reliability.
This role includes a blend of technical expertise, strategic planning, and hands-on support to optimize production processes and equipment reliability.
Risk & Compliance: Issue and oversee safe work permits.
Ensure all contractors comply with Finlar Fine Foods' standards and policies.
Coordinate and facilitate insurance inspections and legal compliance requirements (e.g., COC, fire certification).
Ensure the site adheres to all government and local municipality legal standards.
Provide weekly and monthly compliance reports.
Maintenance Management: Develop and implement a Planned Maintenance System (PMS) with a focus on system integrity.
Oversee and manage contractors.
Analyze maintenance data and reports to identify opportunities for improvement.
Plan and schedule resources for effective maintenance.
Implement strategies for asset care and oversee Capex projects.
Ensure availability of essential services (air, ammonia, water, electricity, effluent plant) to support continuous operations.
Develop and maintain first-line maintenance manuals and training material.
Monitor and maintain critical spare stock levels.
Support day-to-day breakdown maintenance and assist production teams to meet OEE targets.
Cost Management: Develop and monitor the maintenance budget in line with business objectives.
Identify and validate budget exceptions and take corrective action.
People Management: Manage the performance and outputs of contractors and staff.
Motivate, develop, and coach the maintenance team.
Ensure compliance with governance, audit, and risk standards.
Conduct FLM training for operators to enhance machine efficiency and safety.
Functional Competence & Skills Required: Expertise in maintenance processes, planning, and asset management.
Strong organizational, negotiation, and people management skills.
Proficiency in project planning and execution.
Attention to detail, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
This role is pivotal in maintaining the technical integrity and operational efficiency of the plant while ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.

Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) Factories (essential).
Minimum of 5 years of maintenance management experience, preferably in an FMCG environment.
Knowledge of NOSA or OHS Act requirements.
Experience with maintenance programs and systems is advantageous.
