Role OutlineTo manage the functions of the Planning Department for the full logistics operations. Responsible for the department to define company resources in respect of manpower and motorized equipment, assuring the Value Add in all operations. Define layouts and routes based on world class operating principles.Key areas of responsibility include:Oversee work teams and ensure implementation of the organization and customer policies and goals pertaining to improvement initiatives.Define and design best practice processes for implementation.Re-evaluate the value chain and provide value using fewer resources towards a competitive advantage.Maximize the flow of information and deliver value.Responsible to assign and monitor the duties of personnel within the respective department.Responsible to assign and monitor the verification of all process layouts.Ensure all change points and relevant tasks are documented, tracked, and distributed as required.Ensure all agreed departmental key performance indicators are documented, tracked, and distributed.Ensure all individual performance management objectives are documented, tracked, and distributed.Ensure all disciplinary issues are handled timeously and appropriately.Ensure all departmental procedures are documented, remain relevant and cascaded to your team through proper and signed training sessions.Maintain control of a database with all operational information with latest versions of layouts, man assignments, and graphs of performance levels for each direct operation.Responsible for all VW quotations, resource analysis and providing this information to the Costing Department.Determine whether the department can cope with new external projects, or if external assistance is required.Ensure that every outcome takes health and safety into consideration.Ensure that every change is registered in the Quality System.Services expected: Time Studies, Smart Tools, Logistical Layouts, Warehouse Layouts, Routes Planning, Process Flow Charts, Engineering Changes, Manpower Control and Special Equipment Control.Maintain excellent relationship with customer.Deliver profitable growth in the business unit.Work closely with Industrial Engineers within the department to ensure calculations are in line with measurement tools and methods.Ensure adherence to the company's rules and regulations as documented in the company's disciplinary policy.Ensure that housekeeping is maintained in your work area.Ensure safe work practice as defined during Induction and other health and safety related training and awareness campaigns.Initiate the appropriate interventions to secure compliance in terms of service delivery, quality, and innovation.Qualifications, Competencies And SkillsMatric.Tertiary Qualification.Five years management/supervisory experience.Project Management experience.Knowledge of Logistics processes applicable to the department and operations.Ability to decide and initiate action.Ability to lead and supervise.Ability to work with people.Ability to present and communicate information.Ability to apply expertise and technology.Ability to deliver results and meet customer expectations.Ability to cope with pressure and setbacks.Ability to analyse information.Computer Literacy in Microsoft Office packages, CAD and/or MicroStation Drawing and experience with MTM UAS.Administration Skills.Communication Skills.Logical Thinking.Socially Confident.Attention to detail.Decisiveness.Interpersonal Skills.LanguagesEnglish - verbal and written.
