Ochsner Health in New Orleans is seeking an experienced physician leader with vision and passion to serve as Section Head, Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Ochsner Children's Hospital.
The successful candidate will join three faculty to lead and grow this program to increase the number of children being cared for at Ochsner.
Additional training and experience in bone marrow transplant and/or stem cell transplant is desirable.
The successful candidate will possess proven leadership, team-building, and managerial experience.
Areas of administrative responsibility include physician recruiting, budgetary performance, productivity, quality, patient satisfaction goals and medical staff management.
In addition to patient care, the Department of Pediatrics is responsible for teaching pediatric residents from the Tulane-Ochsner Pediatric Residency program and teaches medical students from both Tulane and the University of Queensland.
Academic rank and appointment will be determined by the candidates credentials and experience.
Our comprehensive Pediatrics Program including primary care pediatricians and pediatric medical and surgical subspecialists (Ochsner Childrens) represents over 230 physicians.
The group is the regions leading integrated provider of multispecialty care for newborns, infants, children, adolescents, and young adults.
We offer a full range of pediatric complex specialty services including congenital heart surgery and cardiac transplantation, liver and bone marrow transplantation, a comprehensive surgical sub-specialty group, and the regions only comprehensive multidisciplinary developmental center.
We recently announced the building of a new separate, comprehensive, dedicated Childrens Hospital on our main campus, with expected opening in 2027. We currently care for patients in an expanding 67-bed Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a 14-bed PICU, a 12-bed pediatric CV-ICU, and a 44-bed pediatric acute unit, with a dedicated pediatric emergency room, and full-time, region-wide in-house pediatric and neonatal transport teams. In addition to patient care, Ochsner Childrens Hospital has an ACGME-accredited pediatric residency program and is responsible for teaching pediatric residents from the Tulane-Ochsner Pediatric Residency program as well as medical students from both Tulane and the University of Queensland.
Ochsner Health and Xavier University of Louisiana recently announced an agreement to establish a joint College of Medicine.
