As part of the University of Toronto's interdisciplinary health care education and research ecosystem, Discovery Pharmacy will provide health care services and programs for the U of T community.
Reporting to the Pharmacist Lead, Discovery Pharmacy, the incumbent has responsibility for the day-to-day pharmacy operations, ensuring it is coordinated effectively and efficiently. The incumbent is responsible for receiving patients incoming to DRx and the main patient facing duty is to serve as wayfinding and orientation.
Your responsibilities will include: Responding to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriateResolving minor complaints within the scope of the role and referring larger issues when appropriateCollecting and passing on referrals according to pharmacists instructionsVerifying the accuracy and completeness of documents and billing informationSubmitting completed claim forms to the appropriate insurance agencyUpdating and maintaining patient chartsFollowing rules and procedural instructions when opening and/or closing work areaEssential Qualifications: College Certificate in a professional Pharmacy Assistant Program or equivalent or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience.Minimum two years of experience as a professional pharmacy assistant in the community pharmacy setting.Experience with OHIP/ODB and insurance billing practices.Proficient in using pharmacy management software (Kroll system, Pharmaconnect).Knowledge of PHIPA and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.Applicants are expected to show evidence of a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment.Demonstrated ability to create an inviting and welcoming environment for clients.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a fast paced environment.Must be accurate and attentive to detail.Ability to work independently and as a team member in a multifaceted environment with frequent interruptions.Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and ability to incorporate new and emerging office information technology.To be successful in this role you will be: AccountableApproachableOrganizedTeam playerNote: This is a term position for one (1) year.
