Purpose of the Role: The People Practitioner is responsible for advising, coaching and supporting line managers and staff on the full range of HR functions and services – including employee relations, performance management, recruitment and selection, job evaluation, remuneration and benefits, induction, learning and development, employee wellness, organisational design, ensuring consistency with relevant legislation and the company HR policy and procedure.
This position will report to the People Business Partner. Your responsibilities will include: Advise, coach and support Managers and Team Leaders on the full range of HR functions and services – including employee relations, performance management, recruitment and selection, job evaluation, remuneration and benefits, induction, learning and development, and employee wellness ensuring consistency with relevant legislation and the company HR policy and procedureImplementation of the HR Strategy and policies in the business ensuring alignment to strategyUndertake specific projects, in consultation with line management, to facilitate HR activities and enhance customer serviceProvide timeous and relevant HR management informationCoordinate payroll submissions and checks to ensure accurate and timeous deliveryAdvise and Support Managers and Team Leaders with IR related incidents and processesSupport the onboarding process which includes drafting of contracts, gathering new starter data, ensuring first day readiness, induction etc.Coordinate onboarding and resignation process and ensure leavers and new starters adhere to company policyEnsure all employee systems are kept up to dateSupport all employee relations processes with templates, documentation, scheduling and updating the employee relations databaseProvide monthly reports to the Business Partner and Managers as requiredManage ad hoc projects from time to timeProvide general administrative support to the Business PartnerAssist staff with day to day queriesCoordinate with the Learning & Development department on training initiativesAct as a change agent as and when new initiatives are spearheaded by HRRefer employee well-being matters to the EAP processAttributes required: Strong customer service orientation with excellent interpersonal skillsExcellent oral - including presentation - and written communication skillsDemonstrated problem solving and decision making skillsGood working and theoretical knowledge of current legislation and HR policiesAbility to work under pressure, show initiative and multitaskHigh level of accuracy and analytical thinkingAbility to work independently and as part of a teamAble to present information verbally and in writing to enable decision makingDemonstrates accuracy and detail orientationDemonstrates adherence to confidentiality and respect for personal and business informationDemonstrates ability to facilitate effectivelyAbility to work under pressure in a constantly changing environmentAbility to work with all levels of management including top managementAbility to prioritise in time sensitive environmentActs ethically and with integrity at all timesBe accountable at all timesProactive and takes initiativeAble to assert own position irrespective of possible resistance to ideas or informationQualifications and Experience: A degree in HR or related field: A minimum of a Bachelor of Technology Degree: HR Management or BCom HR Management or BCom Industrial Psychology or related fieldMinimum 3 years HR experience in a generalist capacitySound knowledge of labour laws and policies that govern the defined dutiesProven project management skillsExposure to Industrial Relations including the CCMA processesExperience in delivery in an HR advisory capacity preferably within the Retail and/ or Supply Chain environmentsExperience in coaching and consulting in a changing environmentProven PC literacy (MS Office) and exposure to HR information systemsSuperbalist is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
