Job Description:Our Client in the Clothing/Textile Industry is seeking a Payroll Clerk to join its team. The successful incumbent will be responsible for performing payroll processing tasks and activities associated with the monthly payroll function and ensuring prompt and accurate wage/salary payments for all employees.Education and Experience:Grade 12/MatricRelevant diploma/payroll qualification will be advantageous3+ years of intermediate/advanced experience on VIPPastel Processing / Accounting skills/ HRPM Knowledge / Reporting / Processing (time and attendance/clocking system) will be advantageousWorking knowledge of labor and tax legislation will be advantageousComputer literateValid driver's licenseResponsibilities:PayrollGathering and examining timesheets to ensure their validity.Capturing new employee contracts on VIP payroll and providing all supporting documentation.Ensuring monthly payroll hours are captured correctly onto the VIP payroll.Ensuring stock take casual hours are processed and paid timeously.Capturing approved annual and sick leave.Ensuring that compensation for overtime work is calculated at the appropriate rate, and that annual leave is calculated accordingly, if applicable.Confirming that deductions have been processed correctly.Performing all tasks well before the pay run to ensure staff members are compensated and notified on time.Addressing queries about payroll-related issues.Working to resolve discrepancies in payments as a matter of urgency.Assisting finance with payroll-related reports.AdministrationMaintain complete employee filesFile and safeguard all relevant employee documentationDealing with staff joining and leaving the company (take-ons and resignations)Filing of all payroll and employee documentationAccurate data capturingHousekeepingMaintain cleanliness in the officeEnsure filing is managed and up to dateGeneralResponsible for all payroll-related tasks and any reasonable tasks given by the finance manager/financial accountantProviding documentation to stores for labour inspections as / when requiredPerforming any reasonable duties delegated by Management and/or the payroll administratorsMonitor staff advances (if / when they occur)Manage staff medical loansStay in touch with outcomes of annual wage negotiationsProvide a schedule to allocate long service awardsSundry payments and travel claimsCompetencies:Ability and Adaptable when working under pressureAbility to use own initiativeCreative and Forward ThinkingGood attention to detailExcellent sense of accuracyGood communication Skills on all levelsTeam PlayerComputer literate, Proficiency in ExcelGood attitudeCoachableWillingness to learn and grow
