Job Description: Our Client in the Clothing/Textile Industry is seeking a Payroll Clerk to join its team. The successful incumbent will be responsible for performing payroll processing tasks and activities associated with the monthly payroll function and ensuring prompt and accurate wage/salary payments for all employees. Education and Experience: Grade 12/Matric Relevant diploma/payroll qualification will be advantageous 3 years of intermediate/advanced experience on VIP Pastel Processing / Accounting skills/ HRPM Knowledge / Reporting / Processing (time and attendance/clocking system) will be advantageous Working knowledge of labor and tax legislation will be advantageous Computer literate Valid driver's license Responsibilities: Payroll Gathering and examining timesheets to ensure their validity. Capturing new employee contracts on VIP payroll and providing all supporting documentation. Ensuring monthly payroll hours are captured correctly onto the VIP payroll. Ensuring stock take casual hours are processed and paid timeously. Capturing approved annual and sick leave. Ensuring that compensation for overtime work is calculated at the appropriate rate, and that annual leave is calculated accordingly, if applicable. Confirming that deductions have been processed correctly. Performing all tasks well before the pay run to ensure staff members are compensated and notified on time. Addressing queries about payroll-related issues. Working to resolve discrepancies in payments as a matter of urgency. Assisting finance with payroll-related reports. Administration Maintain complete employee files File and safeguard all relevant employee documentation Dealing with staff joining and leaving the company (take-ons and resignations) Filing of all payroll and employee documentation Accurate data capturing Housekeeping Maintain cleanliness in the office Ensure filing is managed and up to date General Responsible for all payroll-related tasks and any reasonable tasks given by the finance manager/financial accountant Providing documentation to stores for labour inspections as / when required Performing any reasonable duties delegated by Management and/or the payroll administrators Monitor staff advances (if / when they occur) Manage staff medical loans Stay in touch with outcomes of annual wage negotiations Provide a schedule to allocate long service awards Sundry payments and travel claims Competencies: Ability and Adaptable when working under pressure Ability to use own initiative Creative and Forward Thinking Good attention to detail Excellent sense of accuracy Good communication Skills on all levels Team Player Computer literate, Proficiency in Excel Good attitude Coachable Willingness to learn and grow
