My client is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Payroll and Accounting Specialist to join their team. The ideal candidate will excel in managing payroll operations and handling a variety of accounting tasks within a dynamic shared service environment. This role is a 9 month fixed term contract and is based in Rosebank, Johannesburg North. Key Responsibilities: Payroll Administration: Oversee the entire payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely payment to employees. Tax Directive Management: Manage the process of applying for tax directives efficiently. Salary Payments Oversight: Review and approve salary payments, ensuring they align with supporting documentation and internal policies. Internal Controls Maintenance: Continuously monitor and enhance internal control procedures within the payroll department to ensure compliance and accuracy. Journal Entries Processing: Accurately record payroll-related journal entries. Monthly Reconciliations: Prepare and manage monthly bank reconciliations, ensuring all discrepancies are addressed promptly. Payroll Control Account Management: Reconcile payroll control accounts on a monthly basis and resolve any related queries. EMP201 Submissions: Handle the monthly submission of EMP201 forms with precision. EMP501 Submissions: Oversee the bi-annual submission of EMP501 forms, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. COIDA Submission: Coordinate and manage the annual submission for COIDA. Audit Support: Provide necessary documentation and support for both internal and external audits. VAT Administration: Manage the VAT process from start to finish, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Accounting Responsibilities: Perform a wide range of accounting tasks as required, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. Banking Management: Oversee banking administration and resolve any related issues. General Support: Assist with any additional tasks and projects as needed. Qualification and Experience Needed: BCom degree in Finance 5 years' experience in accounting specialising in Payroll 5 years' experience in payroll processing 5 years' experience in VAT processing Software exposure in: SAP, Sage Evolution or Sage 300
