Job Description: Pastry Chef – Specialty Cake Designer
Job Summary:
The Specialty Cake Designer Pastry Chef is responsible for creating high-quality, custom-designed specialty cakes that align with our bakery's standards of artistry and taste. This role includes managing inventory, overseeing the workflow, and ensuring all cake orders are completed on time. The ideal candidate should have a strong eye for design, exceptional cake decorating skills, and a solid understanding of inventory and team coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
Cake Design & Production: Lead the production of designer specialty cakes, ensuring each cake meets quality and design specifications.
Team Coordination: Manage and guide a team of 2 junior cake artists, assigning tasks and offering constructive feedback to maintain high standards.
Inventory & Ordering: Monitor and manage inventory for all specialty cake ingredients and tools. Ensure all items are accounted for and place orders as necessary.
Time Management: Coordinate the team to meet deadlines for all orders, adapting as necessary to ensure timely delivery.
Safety & Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to all food, health, and safety regulations.
Quality Control: Conduct final checks on all cakes to ensure artistic and quality standards are met.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in cake design and decorating.
Education: Formal pastry or culinary training preferred.
Skills: Advanced cake decorating techniques, strong leadership abilities, inventory management skills, and attention to detail.
Personal Attributes: Creative, organized, team-oriented, and committed to food safety standards.
