Our client in KZN near Pietermaritzburg, a large Country House and Spa establishment, is currently looking to employ a Pastry Chef with vast experience, to start soonest.
Overview of Job: The Pastry Chef will be required to assist in the Management of the Kitchen Team and ensure that standards are upheld in the Pastry Section at all times, whilst providing a full pastry service for the Kitchen.
Specific Job Description: As a Pastry Chef, your role is to assist in the Management and operation of the food production and service within the Kitchen.
You will assist in marketing and promoting all food products to help maximize sales and will participate in developing and implementing food promotions, new menus, and systems around the Dessert/Pastry section.
You will assist in sales targets, controlling costs, and purchasing stock.
You will maintain systems of control, developing and updating standards.
You will develop and monitor staff in obtaining the highest standards of service and customer care and will assist in the responsibility for and monitor the training and development of all staff within the Kitchen, specifically the Pastry section.
You will ensure all administration procedures are accurately completed and will maintain a high standard of personal presentation and punctuality.
Pastry specific: Breads and rolls varietal Dessert styles Bistro & Fine Dining Working with chocolate Baking varietal Tarts varietal Knowledge Required: Kitchen Health and safety Quality control Assist in Customer care Guest facilities and products Stock control and ordering Menu development Costings Breads and making of such Pastries and making of such Cakes and making of such Attributes: Highly Developed Communication Skills Awareness of management practices and procedures Developing and training Self Motivated Physically very fit Ability to work with multi-cultural team Ability to work shifts Strong attention to detail is of utmost importance Be creative Skills in Fine Dining and Bistro fare Multi-tasker Minimum 3 years Strong Pastry positions held in a reputable 4 or 5-star environment Benefits for staff member: Part of Management Team Single Live Accommodation is made up of a room with a kitchenette counter, bedroom, and bathroom en suite.
