Full of history, the area offers a community rich with diversity, the arts, technology, vineyards, hiking, canoeing/kayaking, and many other activities.Position Title: Part-Time Career AdvisorResponsibilities:Assist high school students and their families as they prepare for career training or post-secondary education.Plan and execute outreach and career education activities at a service area High School on behalf of the College.Offer a one-stop service that facilitates a student from application to enrollment in courses.Identify and participate in outreach and career planning activities for high school juniors and seniors and their parents/families.Advise and counsel high school students on post-secondary graduation goals.Coordinate on-campus tours, enrollment programs, and college and career-oriented activities.Support Dual Enrollment and Independent Dual Enrollment students.Assist in prospective student recruitment, enrollment, and registration.Collaborate with community organizations and local employers to identify Work-Based Learning opportunities.Maintain a case management system to report outcomes to the Virginia Community College System (VCCS).Qualifications:Experience in a higher education setting.Extensive computer experience with familiarity with word processing, spreadsheets, and database software tools.Extensive customer service experience with an ability to handle stressful situations.Experience working with high school students.A valid driver's license with the ability to travel throughout the service area.Excellent oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Ability to problem solve in a fast-paced environment with a diverse student population.Knowledge of career assessments and career and educational pathway planning.Ability to understand and interpret college policies and academic placement procedures.Ability to handle confidential information.Ability to effectively collaborate with school personnel, community representatives, and employers.Commitment to working with diverse colleagues, students, and community members.Additional Information:The selected candidate's offer is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background investigation.
