Job DescriptionDear Future Paralegal,
The role requires you to ensure efficient and effective support to the Legal Department for maximum output in the delivery of legal services and to act as an intermediary between the Legal Team and Internal/External contacts. To undertake legal work including preparation of first drafts and first legal review of standard agreements for Legal Advisors and Legal Heads.
Are you someone who can: Increase operational efficiency and suggest solutions which will enhance cost effectiveness.Respond efficiently and effectively to queries and deliver duties that are accurate and timely.Deliver tasks within agreed processes, timelines, and operating standards.Perform administrative functions in support of the Legal function, focusing on handling claims, actioning invoicing, drafting repudiation letters, and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of all claims-related processes.Comply with governance in terms of legislative and audit requirements.Maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date document library and provide support to the Legal team to source required documentation.Manage all SLAs accordingly and conduct spot checks on claims to ensure attorneys are servicing clients by maintaining up-to-date records of all claims, including status updates, deadlines, and resolutions.Be a highly organized and detail-oriented individual.Manage personal development to increase own skills and competencies.Handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.You will be an ideal candidate if you: Have Matric and a Legal Secretarial Diploma or Paralegal qualification.Have 2 - 4 years of relevant experience in Legal administration in a law firm, legal department, or legal insurance.Have experience in Civil Law, Family Law, Labour Law, and Criminal Law.Have experience with processing bills of costs.Are familiar with Law on Call and the service the product provides to customers.Are proficient in legal terminology, procedures, and documentation.Have strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Can prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines effectively.Are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and software applications.You will have access to: Opportunities to network and collaborate.A challenging working environment that is progressive and agile.Opportunities to innovate where initiative is taken and owned end to end.We can be a match if you are: Adaptable and curious.Able to analyze complex data sets.Thriving in a collaborative environment.Note: This job description outlines the primary duties and qualifications for the Paralegal Secretary position.
