As a Senior Project Engineer (Cloud) you will focus primarily on leading and delivering customer-facing projects centered around Azure and Microsoft 365 solutions. The role also involves managing a wider portfolio of technology including email security solutions, antivirus and endpoint detection and response (EDR) tools, remote monitoring and management (RMM) platforms, and backup services such as Barracuda and Acronis. The role is hybrid with a minimum of two days at our office in Cape Town, South Africa.
Key responsibilitiesLead the technical solution planning and execution of complex Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 projects; including but not limited to: IaaS, PaaS, digital transformation, advanced configurations, and Azure Virtual Desktop deployments.Expertly troubleshoot and optimize Azure environments, ensuring peak performance and security.Conduct technical audits for Azure, Microsoft 365, and on-premise environments against recognized compliance frameworks such as NIST and CIS.Mentor and guide Cloud Project Engineers, providing expert advice and sharing knowledge across a broad range of technologies.Engage in technical discussions at client c-suite level, influencing decisions and implementation approaches for both cloud and on-premise solutions.Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for Azure, Microsoft 365, and on-premise projects.Manage and integrate a variety of 3rd party tools, including email security solutions, EDR tools, and 3rd party SSO applications, ensuring comprehensive protection and integration across client environments.Support projects with on-premise environments, including Windows Server and VMware, ensuring seamless integration with cloud services where appropriate.What we need from our Senior Project Engineer - CloudDeep knowledge of Microsoft infrastructure solutions, including Windows Server, Active Directory, Entra ID Sync, DNS, and DHCP.Proven experience with a strong understanding in designing, deploying, and managing Azure solutions across both IaaS and PaaS services.A good understanding of cloud security principles and best practices.Knowledge of Azure networking concepts like VNETs, NSGs, and Azure Gateways.Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Bicep, Terraform).Comprehensive expertise in the Microsoft 365 suite, focusing on Exchange Online, Intune, SharePoint, security configurations, and data governance.Experience with email security solutions (various types), antivirus and EDR tools, and their integration within client environments.Strong experience and understanding of on-premise environments, particularly Windows Server and VMware (desirable), including configurations and maintenance.Proficiency in scripting for administrative tasks, preferably using PowerShell or Azure CLI.An interest in emerging Azure and Microsoft 365 features and a drive to continuously learn.Experience and expertiseMicrosoft Certified: Azure Solution Architect Expert, or relevant proven experience.Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert, or relevant proven experience.Microsoft Certified: Cybersecurity Architect Expert.Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate.Microsoft Certified: Information Protection and Compliance Administrator Associate.Equal opportunitiesOryxAlign prides itself on its people and culture.
