Core Description To engineer and provide specialized high-level support based on relevant expert product knowledge of Switching, Access, Transmission, Radio/Microwave, Data, DC Power, Metro Ethernet, or Fibre networks, introduce new technologies, and provide planning support to the RNE Planner, to enable our customers to communicate and ensure customer satisfaction.
Job Responsibilities OUTPUT 1: Processed Application Receive and record application Analyse and validate application Liaise with relevant parties Initiate planning process Feedback information OUTPUT 2: Conducted Feasibility Study Gather information Analyse information Perform preliminary planning Conduct site/field survey Determine infrastructure requirements Compile feasibility report Provide feedback Capture information on relevant systems OUTPUT 3: Compiled Engineering Specification Submit requests to other related parties Perform detailed dimensioning Compile work instruction/statement of work Capture information on relevant systems OUTPUT 4: Compiled "Bill Of Quantities" Compile material list (e.g. cat & non-cat) Compile equipment spec (DI) Compile labour requirements Capture information on relevant systems OUTPUT 5: Compiled Detailed Estimate Capture detailed estimate (e.g. Projestim) Initiate CPA creation Capture information on relevant systems OUTPUT 6: Compiled Engineering Executable File Obtain all relevant documentation (e.g. WAP, wayleaves, install work instruction) Compile project summary sheet Complete ticksheet and verify File office copy Capture information on relevant systems Forward executable file to RBMC OUTPUT 7: Updated Information Systems Identify all relevant information to be updated Verify accuracy (e.g. error reports) Update all relevant systems Provide feedback OUTPUT 8: Managed Network Capacity Monitor regional network utilization Conduct site visit Consult with inter-divisional role players Plan/request corrective action Implement plan Update all Telkom specific systems Manage and track progress OUTPUT 9: Provided Planning Support Receive request from planner/s Analyse request Consult with inter-divisional role players Assist planners to resolve query Monitor planner's implementation progress OUTPUT 10: Introduced New Technologies Attend new technology training Obtain master plans from RINP/Head Office Plan new technology Conduct awareness sessions with planner/s Monitor implementation Core Competencies FUNCTIONAL KNOWLEDGE: Project Estimate, Telkom Procedures, Planning Procedures, Infrastructure Technology, Telkom Structure, Telkom Policies FUNCTIONAL SKILLS: Interpersonal, Communicating, Computer Applications, Report Writing Techniques ATTITUDES/LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES: Diplomatic, Committed, Dynamic, Assertive, Trustworthy Minimum Requirements Education: NQF 4: Grade 12 and relevant modular training OR NQF 6: 3 year Diploma/National Diploma Experience: 5 Years relevant experience OR 3 years relevant experience Additional Information Special Requirements: 4x4 Driver training where applicable. Able to work at heights/confined spaces. Knowledge of Health and Safety Requirements.
