Our esteemed client, based in Roodepoort, Gauteng, is seeking a highly motivated Operations Project Manager with over 7 years of industry experience in manufacturing, food processing, chemical processing, or FMCG environments, including more than 5 years at a supervisory or management level. The ideal candidate will possess experience in design (Mechanical, Process, or Control systems) and a deep understanding of process, electrical, and mechanical engineering principles, as well as control systems. The role also requires expertise in mechanical and electrical equipment, heat transfer, production principles, methodologies and processes, quality control in a production environment, FSSC2200 and OHSA principles, change management (including implementation and management of changes impacting both internal and external parties), and project management (including implementation and management of projects involving both internal and external parties).

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree/diploma in Chemical, Industrial, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electronic, or Electrical Engineering.
Advantageous qualifications: MBA, MEM, Operation Management, Project Management, or Business-related qualifications.
7+ years of industry experience in manufacturing, food processing, chemical processing, or FMCG environments (5+ years at Supervisory/Management level).
Experience with design in Mechanical, Process, or Control systems.
Advantageous experience/exposure: Embedded systems, C language programming, Instrumentation, and PLCs.
Proficiency in MS Office and MS Projects.
Demonstrate an understanding of process, electrical, and mechanical engineering principles and control systems.
Mechanical and electrical equipment.
Heat transfer.
Production principles, methodologies, and processes.
Quality Control in the Production environment.
FSSC2200 & OHSA principles.
Change management - Implementation and management of changes impacting both internal and external parties.
Project management - Implementation and management of projects involving both internal and external parties.


Duties:

Overall accountability for Production, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Logistics.
Incorporate a good balance between delegating and hands-on management.
Contribute to the development of annual and longer-term business plans.
Forecast performance against business key performance indicators.
Develop business cases for key activities/projects.
Estimate the financial and human resources required to deliver performance targets.
Develop and/or deliver capital project budget plans with guidance from senior colleagues for plant upgrades and modifications.
Manage and report on performance within the department or area of responsibility.
Set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports and hold them accountable for achieving these.
Take appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of annual business objectives.
Monitor and review performance and behaviors within the area of responsibility to identify and resolve non-compliance with the organization's policies and relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct.
Oversee the implementation and maintenance of the principal relationships within the area of responsibility, identifying and communicating opportunities for system improvement that may enhance the management of principal relationships.
Identify the team's individual development needs.
Continuous improvement initiatives on productivity, costs, and reducing waste.
Provide input into the manufacturing strategy.
Manage the production & processing facilities and processes.
Manage raw and packaging materials and products.
Monitor capacity utilization, make recommendations, and implement improvements.
Monitor inefficiencies, make recommendations, and implement improvements.
Monitor overall equipment efficiency (OEE), make recommendations, and implement improvements.
Monitor and keep up to date with changes in legislation and ensure compliance.
Plan resources required and daily priorities of the unit per the production plan.
Achieve production targets as per the production plan.
Optimize the plant and achieve prescribed operational efficiencies and identify and eliminate unaccounted losses.
Compose and manage a project team for a technical project to deliver project objectives.
Implement Lean 6 Sigma projects and initiatives.
Drive process optimization and continuous improvements.
