Job DescriptionPRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES The Operations Manager is responsible to drive and develop the business while at the same time maintaining full control of daily operations.
The manager is responsible for setting and delivering the annual budgeted revenues and local contribution (LC) targets for the group.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIESComplete operational control of the Metallurgical & Mineralogical Services Division within South Africa, incorporating the following sub-sections:Bio-MetallurgyExtractive MetallurgyFlotationMinerals ProcessingMineralogy Dump DrillingThis includes Business Development, Financial and Human Resources (HR) responsibilities.Key performance indicators:Meet revenue budgets and profitability forecasts for the business.Achieve a high degree of project execution and client satisfaction.Build and maintain a single, cohesive, and motivated team, focused on client service & satisfaction, with a high level of collaboration between technical groups.Identify, hire, mentor, develop, train & effectively utilize all human resources.Develop long & short-term strategies for the business growth, including sales and marketing.Provide ideas and support the global Metallurgical & Mineralogical structures within the Group.ResponsibilitiesEstablishing pricing policies in conjunction with executive management team.Setting annual budget targets for revenue and profit for the group, in collaboration with the Minerals Business Manager and Global Metallurgy and Mineralogy.Providing technical and marketing leadership to the group, as well as local, regional, and global knowledge of market segments.Maintaining contact with Global Metallurgy and Mineralogy for technical and sales support, as well as proposal coordination.Hiring and developing facilities as needed to create sustainable, profitable growth.Creating and promoting strategic initiatives.Developing budgets for specific projects and new services.Developing and implementing operational tools and guidelines.Ensuring delivery of products on schedule and within budget.Ensuring adequate liability protection ( Injury, Property Damage, Errors, and Omissions).Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by the direct line manager.COMPLIANCE & AUTHORITYCompliant to all SGS Health and Safety (H&S), Quality and Human Resources (HR) policies and procedures.Granted sufficient authority to achieve the given responsibilities as per relevant SGS Authority policies.Responsible for daily safety and health of site employees (or those reporting to this site) on behalf of SGS upper management and for raising issues to SGS upper management where required.Ensure all people at the site are adequately inducted in safety and health for each area they are expected to work in.Ensuring safety and health inductions are carried out, documented and are relevant to the workplace.Ensuring all safety and health information, materials and resources are disseminated throughout the workforce as required.Qualifications????EducationNDip, BEng or BSc in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering.???????Experience and CompetenciesAt least 12 years' experience in the mining industry, preferably in the service business and 8 years Management experience.Up to date on latest methodology / technology.People and financial management skills.Client liaison and good communication skills.
