Operations Manager - Luxury Lodge - Hluhluwe

As the Operations Manager, you will support overall lodge operations, providing leadership and ensuring the highest standards in guest service, lodge maintenance, and staff coordination. This position requires a proactive approach to meet and exceed guest expectations, manage interdepartmental relations, and ensure that the lodge operates smoothly in alignment with the client's standards. The successful candidate will oversee daily guest interactions, lodge quality control, team performance, and operational planning.Key Responsibilities:Personally welcome all guests and ensure an exceptional guest experience.Step into the Lodge Manager's role as needed, covering all duties during their absence.Host agents, media, and groups, and engage with guests daily to foster memorable stays.Oversee weekly planning for training, guest services, and staffing requirements.Manage housekeeping standards through regular room checks and adherence to operational protocols.Participate in departmental meetings, weekly lodge visits, and coordinate with finance.Ensure health and safety protocols are met and lead adjustments as necessary.Support staff welfare, training initiatives, and team-building efforts.Complete performance reviews for direct reports and ensure all departmental reviews are on schedule.Monitor and resolve any timesheet discrepancies, ensuring compliance with budget and operational goals.Knowledge and Skills Required:Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a managerial position within a 5-star hospitality setting.Education: Managerial training or equivalent professional experience.Company Insight: Knowledge of luxury hospitality operations and a commitment to sustainable practices.License: Valid, unendorsed South African driver's license.Skills:Excellent communication skills with both guests and team members.Strong initiative and problem-solving skills; capable of lateral thinking.Courteous and professional demeanor with a commitment to guest satisfaction.Demonstrated leadership, integrity, and motivation to drive excellence.Effective interpersonal skills and a genuine passion for hospitality.Previous Work Experience:Experience in the luxury hospitality or service industry, particularly in guest-facing roles.Proven experience as a lodge or camp manager.Additional Information:This is a live-in role based in Hluhluwe, with transport to and from leave cycles the responsibility of the successful candidate.Between 3 - 5 Years
