Overview:An established Logistics company, within the Automotive Manufacturing sector, seeks an Operations Manager to oversee their East London site.The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and motivating all staff, ensuring a high-quality standard, on-time delivery, and achievement of targets.The position reports to the Technical Services Manager.Minimum Requirements:Matric/Grade 12Experience in Operations, Production, Project, or General Management3+ years working experience in the same or similar positionAbility to effectively communicate at all levels (internal and external customers)Proven record of planning and executing projectsEffective management and utilization of resources, 50+ employees in a unionized environmentMust have sound computer knowledge and applications at an advance level (Full MS Office Suite)Responsibilities:Responsible for overseeing the CMS Operation:Manage the relationship with the Client whilst maintaining profitability and productivityCompletion of the full billing process ensuring accuracy and completenessPlan, implement and monitor annual budgets, scheduling expenditures, analysing, and reporting on variances and taking appropriate corrective actions to compensate for variances.Management of financial and administrative requirementsEnsure Standard Operating Procedures as well as KPI measures are developed, implemented, and monitoredEnsure targets are met in accordance with customer scopeEnsure operations adhere to SHEQ and ISO standards, 5S and Gemba principles as high priorityEnsure Operations strive to fulfil BBBEE such as procurement and recruitment objectivesManage Workshop (and in-plant areas), Equipment & Storage Yard maintenancePromoting customer relations:Maintain good relationships with external and internal customers and handle any customer complaintsEnsuring the Debtors Aging is kept current and escalatingPromote interdepartmental cooperation and synergiesParticipate in daily morning meetings at Plant level with customer managementReview quality as per standard operating procedureDevelop, implement, and monitor guidelines for customer satisfactionSupport Contracts Manager to grow Operational & Technical Portfolio, to find new business and spot opportunitiesManage all productive staff effectively and efficiently:Plan and adjust staff workloads and allocate daily tasks to team membersProvide advice, coordination, and support to team membersEnsure all operations staff adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and safety protocolsEnsure all staff are adequately trained in terms of their duties and per legal requirementsUtilize the Performance Management system to ensure all staff are appraised on performance and given sufficient training, coaching, and mentoring where applicableEnsure all new staff are properly inducted on all policies and proceduresEnsure all department employees' time keeping and attendance adherenceEnsure corrective action is taken on employees who do not comply with policies and procedures of the companyFoster a team environment of inclusivity and transparencyAdditional Duties:Ensure the department adheres to ISO 9001 Quality Processes and standardsEnsure the department adheres to ISO 14001 Environmental Processes and standardsEnsure the department adheres to ISO 18001 Health and Safety standardsEthical approach to safety and complianceCompetencies / Skills:Strong leadership skillsAble to effectively manage projects and relevant staffAble to work in a highly deadline-driven and pressurised environment
