ProSidian seeks an Oil and Gas (Petroleum) Geologist / Geophysicist / Consultant located in Cape Town, South Africa, to support an engagement for the U.S. Govt. International Technical Assistance Program (ITAP) providing assistance on technical, regulatory, environmental, and financial management for national development on a range of energy and non-energy resources.
Key Responsibilities: Provide industry technical expertise, experience, training, and support with Energy, Extractives, and Renewable Energy concerns including detailed structural analyses and advanced interpretation of remote sensing data. Participate in a highly integrated, multi-functional team tasked with opportunity generation, drilling, and production interests. Advise and assist stakeholders to define the controls on ore distribution, geotechnical domains, and hydrogeological pathways. Support engagements with software such as Gocad, Geomodeller, and Leapfrog, ensuring mineralization targets are defined by multiple exploration and mining parameters. Compile technical reports for the investment community as required by legislation and provide geological advice to institutional and industrial clients prior to investment decisions. Train and support stakeholders in developing data packages for tender. Lead prospect evaluations, perform development geology, mapping potential field extensions, and create data gathering plans. Integrate large amounts of data into both regional and prospect-level interpretations. Work closely with Drilling, Land, Government Affairs, Operations, Reservoir Engineering, and Legal to achieve stakeholder objectives. Minimum Requirements: BA/BS, MA/MS and/or Ph.D. in Geology or Geophysics (or related fields) and a minimum of 7-10 years of experience in conventional Oil and Gas development. 10 years of experience and work history with hands-on applications in the geophysical sciences. Exceptional organizational skills and knowledge of Geographic or other geologic software systems. Strong analytical background and skills in understanding stratigraphy and well plans in 3 dimensions.
