Key Accountabilities/Principal ResponsibilitiesCommunicate Health and Safety valuesCommunicate and coordinate Health and Safety info to Senior ManagementProvide information reports to the Client and Senior ManagementAttend Client meetings and reportCommunicate OHSA values to contractors and staff to build a solid and effective team that establishes a culture of zero harm to people, and zero impact on the environmentEnsure line Supervisors are familiar with their responsibilities as they relate to contractor safetyCommunicate safety strategy and supporting initiativesParticipate in quarterly safety forumsPeriod review of contractor performance and implementimprovement plans where necessary Conduct Training and Awareness ProgramsAppoint health and safety representatives and establish health and safety committeeAppoint First Aiders and Fire Marshalls for the projectEnsure First Aiders and Fire Marshalls are trained and correctly deployed in the projectProvide training needs analysis for personnel and ensure adequate training is providedKeep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all OH&S legislation and any developments which affect the businessConduct OHS Inductions / Safety and Toolbox talks Conduct Risk Assessments and develop safe work procedures Ensure employees and contractors comply with health and safety legislation and that safety policies and practices are adopted and adhered toConduct Emergency Evacuation drills twice a year.Establish customized risk assessments for the Functional Areas and align safe work proceduresComplete OHSA monthly reports and Stats and submit to Divisional Manager and Senior OHS managerMonitor and review all site safety plans and implement corrective actions requiredReport all deviations, Risks and Incidents to the Divisional Manager and Senior OHS managerEnsure all new installations and maintenance comply with health and safety regulations and standardsEnsure safety files for contractors compiled and updatedEnsure that all documentation to be available for inspections by Client, Agent of the Client, Safety Inspector and Employee(s)Identify and develop mitigation plans for health and safety issues and risksConduct accident / incident reporting & investigationEnsure staff medicals on fileMaintain records of inspection findings and produce reports with recommendations for improvementsManage and ensure the safe storage and / or disposal of hazardous materials and equipment Implement and maintain company Health and Safety policies and procedures in alignment with amendments to legislation, industry and company policySafety PlanCompany Policy Administrative Requirements:Legal AppointmentsEstablish the Health & Safety CommitteeEmergency Preparedness ProgrammesEvacuation ProceduresOHS Monthly ReportRisk AssessmentsSafe Work proceduresToolbox Talks / Safety Awareness training / OHS InductionCompliance CertificatesPermitsContractor appointmentsContractor Compliance and SafetyStaff MedicalsLetter of Good Standing with the Compensation for Injuries and Diseases DepartmentProvision of RegistersOccupational Health & Safety ActConstruction RegulationsOccupational Health & Safety FileCovid-19 Statutory requirements It should be noted that, for operational reasons, it may be necessary to perform tasks other than those described herein from time to timePrescribed procedures may be amended by management as and when required Qualification Requirements and work-related experienceGrade 12Relevant OHS degree / diploma or NQF level 5 certificationSAMTRAC or NEBOSH CertificateRisk Assessment CertificateIncident Investigation CertificationFall Protections Planner CertificateMin 3 years OHS working experience preferably in Facilities ManagementConstruction sectorsPrevious OHS experience dealing with contractorsProfessional Registration BodyRegistered with SAIOSH as a Tech memberRegistered SACPCMPPeople and Management SkillGood communication skills both written and verbalExcellent customer relation skillsGood people skillsUnderstand and follow oral and written instructionsEnergeticPunctual and ReliableWell-motivated and team-orientatedFriendly, polite, and helpful when dealing with customersService orientatedAble to act quickly and calmly in emergency situationsAbility and willingness to learnMinimum Knowledge RequirementsKnowledge of ISO 450001 Management system approvalKnowledge and experience of OHS administration processesFunctional CompetenciesCommunication Speaks fluently;
