Our client is a dynamic and ambitious family owned and run export trading business based in Durban that has been in existence for the last 52 years. They specialize in the export of FMCG's, fruit and vegetables, meat, wines and building materials to over 55 countries throughout the world.They are seeking an Offshore (International) Buyer to join the procurement team that comprises of a team of specialized individuals, experienced in their fields, the products, and services they manage.The successful incumbent is specialized in Frozen commodities, especially poultry. Offshore/international buying experience is essential!Procurement for exports is a fast-moving department where one needs to constantly find solutions for problems and being able to multitask is a must. The Offshore Buyer will consistently strive for a beneficial working relationship between them and their international suppliers. This person will also be responsible for communicating between the international suppliers and their internal team, ensuring that new and current orders are flawlessly executed.Responsible to work closely with our current suppliers and Business Development Managers discussing current brand activations and strategies along with further brand and product development on a per market basis.Key Responsibilities Include But Not Limited ToInternational and local product sourcing of frozen commodities.Purchasing / Procurement of International products with existing and new suppliers.Development of the company's' product range.Negotiation of pricing, rebates and settlement discounts.Negotiation and handling of claims.Handling the negotiation of cycle deals, promotions, and POS material for relevant markets.Helping to build and develop new brands for new markets.Attending Trade Fairs, local and international travel.Experienced in exclusivity, pricing, route to market / value chains, cycle deals, claims process, rebates and settlements.RequirementsSkills and experienceMinimum 3 years' experience in international procurement of frozen commodities, ideally frozen poultry and fish.Offshore/international buying experience is essential!Maintaining and developing supplier relationshipsUnderstanding of exports, shipping markets and INCO terms.Experience in operations and logistics would be advantageous.QualificationsCompleted Matric with MathsRelevant Tertiary qualification will be advantageousPersonality FitStrong negotiation skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Relationship building skills.An ability to work independently but also within a team structure.Proactive and assertive, able to take calculated decisions.Ambitious, positive, and energetic.Ability to handle high pressure situations.Solution driven.Salary will be market related and dependent on experience.If you believe you fulfill the above criteria required for the role, please feel free to email your updated CV through to (Email Address Removed)Please note that if you do not fulfill all the above requirements for the position your CV will not be considered.Desired SkillsFrozen PoultryFrozen FishFrozen goodsBuyingINCOOffshore buyerInternational buyerEmployer & Job BenefitsMedical AidProvident FundIncome ProtectionGap Cover13th Cheque
