This opportunity will require your strong Ocean Freight Import & Export Knowledge, forming a part of the Cape Town Management Team for this Fortune 500 Global Logistics Company.
Minimum requirements: Relevant Tertiary Qualification (Advantageous)5+ Years within an Ocean Freight Product Management role5+ years of Global Logistics Industry working experience and knowledge (specifically Ocean Imports & Exports and preferably within the Freight Forwarding Industry)Minimum of 3 years management experience and a sound understanding of all operational, finance and commercial support processesFully Computer Literate in all MS Office Suite Applications (Excel Advanced)Own Vehicle and Valid Drivers License Key Performance Areas: Create and maintain an effective department organization chart, which is designed for flexibility and growthPrepare, execute, monitor and update the department business plan at regular intervalsMonitor and improve key departmental productivityReview and support with day-to-day quotationsSupport product with checking local charges and agreement quotes to ensure we minimize potential branch lossesHave thorough ongoing current knowledge of the Ocean productPlan and support with huddles and monthly meetings to discuss market intelligence and delegate workloads within the teamAttend the weekly branch Sales meeting and facilitate discussions on Ocean Import with market updates and trendsTake an active role in the transition of new business/ updates to existing businessBe open to implementing new system changes and enhancements into your departmentBe involved and suggest system/process improvementsGrow department Revenue in line with budget target and management expectationsSupporting with internal financial reports to ensure that the department is showing clean financial accounting throughout all financial reportsMaintain a positive relationship with the Trade Compliance Manager and support all compliance efforts and trainingsBuilding and maintaining strong relationships with vendors (Shipping lines, trucking companies, and others)Review and conduct staff appraisals and one on one meeting timelyAssist supervisor and key staff with goal setting and monitoring development In return this opportunity will offer an attractive remuneration package that will include full Company Medical Aid, contribution towards Retirement Annuity and monthly management profit share.
