Job Description Our client, a leading organisation that develops and promotes standards to ensure quality and safety across various industries, seeks to appoint an Occupational Medical Practitioner/Doctor to take full management of the Occupational Health Centre as required by the OHS Act and Health Act.As The Occupational Medical Practitioner/Doctor you will be accountable for the holistic management and activities of the Occupational Health Centre as prescribed by OHS Act and the Health Professional Council of South Africa.
Responsibilities include conducting Health Risks Assessments, diagnosing work-related ill health issues, specialist assessments, and more HEALTH RISKS ASSESSMENTS • Conducting Health Risks assessments in hazardous areas in the workplace • Identifying risks from hazards and advising on control measures • Diagnosing work-related ill health issues • Conducting appropriate investigation for diagnosis of occupational disease • Collaborating with multidisciplinary members for specialist assessment of the working environment • Compiling Occupational Health Risks Profile (OREP) for each job category • Pre-placement health screening and medical examinations • Periodic health screening and medical examinations • Special medical assessment and further medical investigations for abnormalities • Advising on biological exposure monitoring • Advising on occupational health, safety, hygiene, ergonomics, and individual/collective protective equipment • Assessing control system to eliminate/mitigate exposures • Selecting appropriate personal protective equipment • Advising on workplace design and ergonomic tools EMERGENCY TREATMENT AND PREVENTION • Advising on emergency treatment and equipment for Medical Emergencies • Input in planning of working environment, including design, machinery, equipment, and substance usage for risk mitigation WORK ADAPTATION AND PROMOTION • Promoting work adaptation to worker, assessing disabilities, fitness for work, and work ability • Assessing workplace hazards, occupational disability, and recommendation for rehabilitation TRAINING AND EDUCATION • Providing training and education in occupational health, safety, and ergonomics to all employees • Disseminating information, publications, and advising on analysis of occupational health accidents and diseases SUPPORT AND COMPLIANCE • Supporting and advising HSE Department on compliance with occupational health/safety legislation • Participating in health promotion programs, wellness programs, and ensuring holistic management of Occupational Health Service ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES • Completing health risk assessments, legal compliance matrices, and medical fitness examinations • Providing Occupational Health Services as a medical consultant • Participating in Disability Team discussions and advising stakeholders on health matters • Ensuring appropriate health/clinic licenses, permits, and meeting legal requirements Requirements The Occupational Medical Practitioner/Doctor (MBCHB) shall be qualified in a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery.

The Occupational Medical Doctor must be registered with the Health Professionals Council of South Africa (HPCSA) – (Valid copy of membership certificate or proof of registration must be attached) Benefits ADDITIONAL NOTES • The Occupational Medical Practitioner shall provide locum services in his/her absence • The Doctor will practice from the Pretoria Head Office and be based in the Pretoria region • Expected willingness to travel the regions as required (e.g., Cape Town, East London) Requirements The Occupational Medical Practitioner/Doctor (MBCHB) shall be qualified in a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery.
