Job DescriptionOur client, a leading organisation that develops and promotes standards to ensure quality and safety across various industries, seeks to appoint an Occupational Medical Practitioner/Doctor to take full management of the Occupational Health Centre as required by the OHS Act and Health Act.As The Occupational Medical Practitioner/Doctor you will be accountable for the holistic management and activities of the Occupational Health Centre as prescribed by OHS Act and the Health Professional Council of South AfricaResponsibilities include conducting Health Risks Assessments, diagnosing work-related ill health issues, specialist assessments, and moreHEALTH RISKS ASSESSMENTSConducting Health Risks assessments in hazardous areas in the workplaceIdentifying risks from hazards and advising on control measuresDiagnosing work-related ill health issuesConducting appropriate investigation for diagnosis of occupational diseaseCollaborating with multidisciplinary members for specialist assessment of the working environmentCompiling Occupational Health Risks Profile (OREP) for each job categoryPre-placement health screening and medical examinations Periodic health screening and medical examinationsSpecial medical assessment and further medical investigations for abnormalitiesAdvising on biological exposure monitoringAdvising on occupational health, safety, hygiene, ergonomics, and individual/collective protective equipmentAssessing control system to eliminate/mitigate exposures Selecting appropriate personal protective equipmentAdvising on workplace design and ergonomic toolsEMERGENCY TREATMENT AND PREVENTIONAdvising on emergency treatment and equipment for Medical EmergenciesInput in planning of working environment, including design, machinery, equipment, and substance usage for risk mitigationWORK ADAPTATION AND PROMOTIONPromoting work adaptation to worker, assessing disabilities, fitness for work, and work abilityAssessing workplace hazards, occupational disability, and recommendation for rehabilitationTRAINING AND EDUCATIONProviding training and education in occupational health, safety, and ergonomics to all employeesDisseminating information, publications, and advising on analysis of occupational health accidents and diseasesSUPPORT AND COMPLIANCESupporting and advising HSE Department on compliance with occupational health/safety legislationParticipating in health promotion programs, wellness programs, and ensuring holistic management of Occupational Health ServiceADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIESCompleting health risk assessments, legal compliance matrices, and medical fitness examinations Providing Occupational Health Services as a medical consultant Participating in Disability Team discussions and advising stakeholders on health matters Ensuring appropriate health/clinic licenses, permits, and meeting legal requirementsADDITIONAL NOTESThe Occupational Medical Practitioner shall provide locum services in his/her absenceThe Doctor will practice from the Pretoria Head Office and be based in the Pretoria regionExpected willingness to travel the regions as required (e.g., Cape Town, East London) RequirementsThe Occupational Medical Practitioner must be in possession of the National Diploma in Occupational Health qualification (Proof to be submitted.)The Occupational Medical Doctor must be registered with the Health Professionals Council of South Africa (HPCSA) – (Valid copy of membership certificate or proof of registration must be attached)The Occupational Medical Doctor must have high knowledge of applicable governance and statutory requirements in Occupational Health Medicine and a minimum of seven (7) years' experience as an Occupational Medical Doctor The Occupational Health Practitioner must be registered with SASOM (South African Society of Occupational Medicine) (Proof to be attached.)RequirementsThe Occupational Medical Practitioner must be in possession of the National Diploma in Occupational Health qualification (Proof to be submitted.) The Occupational Medical Doctor must be registered with the Health Professionals Council of South Africa (HPCSA) – (Valid copy of membership certificate or proof of registration must be attached) The Occupational Medical Doctor must have high knowledge of applicable governance and statutory requirements in Occupational Health Medicine and a minimum of seven (7) years' experience as an Occupational Medical Doctor – (The Doctor's CV and minimum of 5 contactable reference letters must be attached for management of on-site occupational health clinics. (Reference letter must not be older than 7 years) The Occupational Health Practitioner/Doctor should have the Dispensing license (Proof to be submitted) The Occupational Health Practitioner must be registered with SASOM (South African Society of Occupational Medicine) (Proof to be attached.)
